Elections and Rehabilitation — NOW …

Commentary;

Shlomo Avineri has often been seen as a flaming Lefty, but read this! Incredible — No Agenda At All.

Elections Now By Shlomo Avineri

Excerpts;

Israel’s future as a democracy – not the personal fates of Ehud Olmert and Amir Peretz – is in question following this latest war.

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert should consider stepping down. His resignation would also result in the resignation of the rest of the government, and would thereby pave the way for new elections. read more

The Utter Sickness of Sinat Chinom — Israelis vs Jews …

Commentary;

Avi Dichter is just another in a long line of cheap, slimey Israeli political agendists who’s hate and disdain for anything Jewish is soo blind and all-consuming. He would walk away from a part of Israel, from any part of the Land of Israel — in a heartbeat.

The Golan, just as Gaza and Yehuda and the Shomron are part of Hashem’s divine mandate: biblical Israel, those areas which HaKadosh Borchu brought to our possession once again in our contemporary times. There is NO Divine mandate, NO Moral mandate to even hear of, let alone consider abandonment of even an inch of Biblical Israel now in our reshus. read more

“Did We Receive the Leaders We Deserve?

The Lessons of Lebanon, By Lenny Ben-David (Jerusalem Post)

Excerpts;

The war did not go well. It’s easy to point to Hizbullah’s six years of preparations, its fanatic devotion to death, and an endless supply of technologically advanced Iranian and Syrian weapons. But the analysis of what went wrong must first be focused on ourselves.

Five of my sons and sons-in-law fought in this war. Now coming out of Lebanon and surviving some of the bloodiest fighting, they are filled with anger. Their short-term and long-term orders were confused and ever-changing. The emergency stocks for their reserve units were in horrible condition. One reservist special forces unit lacked basic communications equipment, they were provided guns that they had never trained on, and their rushed training was done in conditions unlike anything they would see in Lebanon. read more

Olmert Tries a Spin Remake: From Ehud, the Destroyer to Ehud, the “Builder”…

Analysis: Olmert Realigns Master Plan By Anshel Pfeffer (Jerusalem Post)

For context, click here.

Excerpts;

The weekend headlines regarding Prime Minister Ehud Olmert’s apparent decision to set aside, at least for the time being, his beloved realignment plan were stating the obvious.

It would be political suicide for the embattled prime minister, who will count himself lucky if he manages to avoid a state commission of inquiry on his government’s conduct of the war, to proceed with such a controversial plan now that unilateral withdrawals have proven so disastrous and his personal credibility is in tatters. read more

In Spite of Olmert’s Words, Has He Really, Honestly Dropped “Convergence?” Does He Even Know What Honesty is?

Commentary;

A few days ago, this blog asked if; “Loss of War in Lebanon Buries ‘Convergence’?

Barak at IRIS seems to think so in reporting; “Olmert Drops West Bank Withdrawal Plan.”

However, note that convergence has not been discarded or scrapped in Olmert’s mind. The Haaretz story which Barak quotes also states, “Olmert said that talk at this time about the convergence plan would not be ‘appropriate.'” But mark this author’s words; the sinat chinom, the venom of secular Israelis towards Jews, toward 300,000 Yesha residents who took on the holy mission of fulfilling the Divine legacy of yishuv Eretz Yisrael remains close to the surface. The leftist aim of separating Israelis from their Jewish legacy, heritage, history has not died with Israel’s defeat in the Lebanon War. read more

This author reiterates what was posted to this blog just a couple of days ago regarding DM Peretz’s designation of a commission of investigation;

“Wouldn’t a more thorough, objective analysis and judgement come from the likes of Generals Giora Eiland, director of Israel’s national security council and Moshe Ya’alon, former IDF Chief of Staff preceding Halutz, or by State Controller Michal Lindenstrauss?” MB
