Iran to Fund Syrian Arms Deals, by Roee Nahmias (Ynet)

Tehran will help Syria fund future arms deals with North Korea and Russia, set up military plants there and back Syria on the Lebanon issue.

Iran will transfer a billion dollars to Syria for the purchase of 400 advanced T-72 Russian tanks, 18 MiG-31 warplanes, eight Sukhoi fighter jets and eight Mikoyan helicopters.

In addition, Iran will help Syria set up a mid-range missile manufacturing plant and equip the Syrian army with Iranian-made armored vehicles and tanks. read more

In a recent previous quote, this blog asked this question regarding the Comptroller’s report on the unpreparedness of the Home Front Command during last summer’s Lebanon conflict; Are there two Home Front Commands; one for the north which is being remediated, and one for the south which is being TOTALLY NEGLECTED?

PM’s Office Director General Raanan Dinor:

“Abandon… providing protection to every citizen …. Instead…, the money… can be used for active operations, such as attacks against rocket launchers.”

Does this mean real attacks on rocket launchers, wherever they may be and even behind human shield? Or does it mean more “hit them very, very hard” = hitting empty fields? We probably know the answer to that one. MB
