Police Clear Gush Etzion Outpost; Settlers Resist

“Police and civil authority teams on Wednesday have begun dismantling seven temporary structures that have been erected recently at an illegal outpost near Neve Daniel in Gush Etzion.”

“Army Radio reported that about 150 protesters came to the site in an attempt to prevent the evacuation.”

“Greater police reinforcements were called to the outpost to deal with the growing resistance. Three people have been detained for investigation.” read more

This is a terrible report to read, but it gives cause to wonder if this treatment impacted upon soldiers who pledged to refuse to expel their fellow Jews and yet, in the end, took part in the Gush Katif/Shomron expulsions. MB

Parsha Vayishlach 5766; Maintaining and Restoring Righteousness

As our Parsha begins, Yaakov sent melachim (angels), some render a translation of messengers, “… ahead of him to Eisev to the land of Seir, to the field of Edom… Thus shall you say … to Eisev, so said your servant Yaakov: ‘Im-Lavan garti’ (I have sojourned with Lavan) …” (Sefer Breish’t, Perek 32, posukim 4 & 5).

We learn that the Gematria (numerical value) of the word ‘garti’ is 613; that Yaakov “… sojourned with Lavan, but yet … kept all of the 613 commandments and … did not learn from his [Lavan’s] wicked deeds.” (Torah Gems, Aharon Greenberg, Parsha Vayishlach page 251) read more
