Expulsion Cost $USD 2 Billlion; As Ricky Watters Once Said: “For Who, For What?”

Expulsion Cost $2 Billion–So Far

Full Text;

A Finance Ministry official has revealed that the cost of the expulsion program has cost $2 billion and will rise. “The costs just keep mounting,” said deputy budget director Harel Belinda. He also described the problem of unemployment among the expulsion victims as a “ticking bomb.”

The plight of the former Gaza region and northern Samaria residents is exacerbated by the government’s fear of submitting amendments because factions on the right and left would try to change the law. “The government will have to withdraw the law if any changes proposed by MKs are made to it. This would be catastrophic for us since we’ll find ourselves helpless in the face of the distress of the evacuees,” warned Ra’anan Dinur, director general of the office of the Prime Minister. read more

In the tradition of Malcolm Hoenlein who sat on the truth regarding William Tenet’s position on Jonathan Pollard for 6 years, Jonathan Bassi and Major General Giora Eiland have now denounced the Sharon/Olmert government actions “disengagement” from Gush Katif as well as, in Eiland’s case, Olmert’s, convergence (or is that consolidation, or perhaps realignment) plan. UTJ to Tie Gush Katif Expellees to Coalition Talks

Commentary;

But does Gimmel really know how to make specific conditions with teeth that will compell prompt government compliance with it’s own Knesset-passed laws regard prompt, no-strings-attached and complete compensation of ALL that is due to ALL of the Gush Katif/Shomron refugees of last summer’s Israeli Government expulsions of Jews from those areas.

Or is all of this a negotiations ploy on Gimmel’s part which will be dropped like a hot potato as soon as all of their own financial requirements are met? With Gimmel, after they joined Sharon’s Expulsion Regime, history shows that one can’t know their [Gimmel’s] true motivations for sure. MB read more

Rabbi: Minority Can’t Stop Next Pullout

Excerpts;

“There are those who say: ‘What if they come to evacuate us from our lands (in the West Bank); will we go like sheep to slaughter? We have no choice but to fight for the Land of Israel’. The answer to this is clear: Even if we will be successful in delaying this or that evacuation by applying force, there is no doubt this will lead to more force being applied against us – force that is stronger than ours,” he said. read more

Olmert: Only Pro-Uprooting Parties in My Government

Excerpt;

In an attempt to win votes back, Kadima’s prime ministerial candidate, Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, announced last night that any party that refuses to accept the concept of “inward-turning” – the name he has given his plan to carry out further unilateral withdrawals – will not be invited to join the government he expects to form. Olmert thus hopes to play on the desires of Shas and Yisrael Beiteinu voters, and, to a lesser extent, those of the hareidi-religious United Judaism Party (UTJ), to see their parties in the government. read more
