AG Defends Decision to Evacuate Amona

Excerpts;

Attorney General Menahem Mazuz told the special parliamentary investigative committee into the violent events at Amona on Tuesday that settler offers of a compromise that were presented to him prior to the Amona evacuation were untenable, not to the point, and unfeasible.

“Mazuz added that the Amona structures had to be demolished because, ‘they were tainted with all levels of illegality.'”

“The structures were built on private Palestinian land,’ he said.” read more

Jews, Make Your Votes Count!

The Referendum is Here

Excerpts;

“Ehud Olmert, the acting prime minister of Israel, has made things quite clear. The March 28th elections are a referendum on the future of Judea and Samaria and on the creation of a sovereign Palestinian Arab nation-state west of the Jordan River.”

“In other words, the referendum that we asked for is here.”

“For the better part of two years, the zeitgeist of Judea, Samaria and Gush Katif was that the government of Israel must hold a referendum before any decision is made concerning the proposed destruction of our communities and the creation of an armed Arab entity, whose purpose would be to transform any area under its control into a launching pad to liberate the rest of ‘Palestine'”. read more

The Achievement Claims of Olmert, Sela for Gush Katif Refugees?

Acting PM Olmert Convenes Ministerial Disengagement Committee

This story is newsworthy for it’s inaccuracies, distortions, blantant overstatement and it’s obvious media spin. If 1.3 Billion NIS has been disbursed, to whom has it been disbursed? It has not gone to the refugee families for they consistently report having received either nothing or a fraction of the promised compensation. MB

Amona Witness: Police Threw Stones at Roofs

Full Text;

“Anat Roth, a researcher from the Israeli Institute for Democracy, has given the first testimony given before the committee investigating police violence during the recent evacuation of Amona. Ms. Roth came to Amona at that time to compile material for a doctoral assignment. She previously worked as an assistant to MK Matan Vilnai and former Labor party leader Amram Mitzna.

Ms. Roth stated that she had been in Amona since the day before the expulsion. She noticed that in their pre-evacuation preparations, residents and demonstrators alike stressed the need to avoid violence. Demonstrators were told many times that the struggle should resemble that of Gush Katif and that protest methods such as sitting on the ground and other forms of passive resistance should be used. read more

Accepting Responsibility and Spiritual Leadership & Pikuach Nefesh: “Contract With The Jews”

Shouting From the Rooftops

Excerpts;

“Elyakim Levanon, the rabbi of Elon Moreh for the past 23 years, has never been so popular among the settlers. He is the elder rabbi of the ‘Hill Top Youth,’ that idealistic, anti-establishment group of young men and women inhabiting the hills near Nablus – often in small, illegal outposts – and hitchhiking on the roads shunned by most Israelis who fear being shot by Palestinian terrorists.”

“Elon Moreh, like other settlements around Nablus – such as Bracha, Yitzhar and Itamar – is both geographically and ideologically detached from much of Israeli society. Most Israelis do not know where Elon Moreh is, and those who do would never dream of visiting – even in a bullet-proof bus. Veteran residents of Elon Moreh include Menahem Felix and Beni Katzover, founding members of Gush Emunim, an organization positing ideals that – if recent election polls are to be trusted – are far from meeting general consensus.” read more
