It’s reported that while Hamas was looting Yassir Arafat’s house in Gaza City, they even swipped Arafat’s precious peace prize. Undoubtedly Blogosphere is having a lot of fun with this one, as witness this recent Little Green footballs post.

It’s a shame that they didn’t come up with a matched pair by swipping Peres’ as well.

Justice Minister: Israel Must Allow Fleeing Palestinians Entry to West Bank (Ynet)

Justice Minister Daniel Friedmann issued a statement Monday calling on Israel to allow Palestinians wishing to flee Gaza entry to the West Bank.

“As long as the people in question are not Hamas gunmen and do not pose a security threat, Israel must facilitate their transition,” said the statement.

It’ll be very interesting to watch exactly what criteria will be used in determining who is permitted to enter Yehuda and Shomron, if any is used at all, to distinguish a “peaceful” pal(sic) from a gunman, a human-shield or a terror co-conspirator. MB read more

The “crisis among the people” which Professor Aumann speaks of evolves from the fractionalization and fragmentation of the people, such as what brings religious political elements to support an Oslo, to support a Peres presidency, etc.

And it is this fragmentation which permits the current leadership, to divide and conquer and thus maintain and perpetuate its entrenched political and governmental power. This is what the people must change — NOT merely with their feet, walking to the election booth and voting for a Feiglin or a Marzel or an Uri Ariel — all on one unified team. Everything which comes before must change resulting in enabling them to be viable and to win. read more

A Qatari newspaper, Al Watan, reported Friday that Syria is making concrete preparations for war with Israel, saying that the Syrian government has removed the Government Archives and the State Archives from the Damascus area. This, according to the paper, indicates planning for war.

Syrian parliament member Muhammad Habash confirmed… that Syria is indeed engaged in active preparations for a war with Israel. The conflict, said the Syrian MP, is expected to break out during the summer months. read more
