There are at least four stories out of Annapolis or related to the conference which point up the gathering’s absurdity, waste of time, waste of hot air and why Israel’s concoction of the idea was absurd from birth.
Dr. Aaron Lerner of IMRA (Independent Media Research and Analysis) writes about a question posed to Mr. Saleh Nazal, Director, Minister’s Office -PA Ministry of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs in his weekly commentary;
“the PLO renounces the use of terrorism and other acts of violence” Letter From Yasser Arafat To Prime Minister Rabin: September 9, 1993 [...]
Ten days ago, this blog posted a piece on the start of the Annapolis conference stating that it was “no accident or coincidence, for on 29 November, 1947, the United Nations voted for the partition of the British Mandate territory of Palestine marking the beginning of modern-day Medinat Yisrael.
For those not distracted by the rhetoric of Olmert, Ramon, Livni, Barak, and yes Bibi Netanyahu too, there is a lot to this symbolism; 29 November, 1947; the beginning. 29 November, 2007; the Arab, and Leftist Regime hoped for beginning of the end of Jewish sovereignty.” [...]
A little over a week ago, a blog entry was posted here citing the absurdity of a ruling regime professing “it’s Jewishness” while pursuing the actualization of divestment of Israel, and Israelis of any and all vestages of Jewishness by any and all means, even at the peril of the entire nation.
In a MUST-READ piece, Manhigut Yehudit leader Moshe Feiglin echos the very points made in the above-mentioned blog post in his piece; “Israel’s Jewish Mask” MB
Annapolis is in the air, and the fact that the Arabs refuse to recognize Israel as a Jewish state has painted Israel’s anti-Jewish identity leaders into an uncomfortable corner. Outwardly, they demand that the Arabs recognize Israel as a Jewish state. It is an open secret, though, that since the State of Israel was established, its elites and official institutions have done all they could to erase Israel’s Jewish identity. The strongest of these elites is the “rule of law gang –” in the descriptive words of Chaim Ramon — and of course the “watchdogs of democracy –“as Israel’s media likes to present itself. There are other elites as well; academia, the cultural elite, public survey institutes, the defense establishment and more. They have all joined forces to reinvent Israel as a secular state of all its citizens. [...]
In view of Olmert’s demand to recognize Israel as a Jewish State, this author believes that the deliberate omission of the flag of Israel from proximity of Annapolis needs to hammered home to Israelis again and again and again!
Further, a contact in Washington informs me that, unlike the Arabs who are very high profile and readily available throughout D.C. and Annapolis, the Israelis “are all here in Annapolis…, spread throughout the city.” [...]
This short report appeared in the Jerusalem Post on Monday;
MK Michael Eitan (Likud) asked Attorney-General Menahem Mazuz to inform the prime minister that if he signs any agreement at the Annapolis conference he must add a clause stating that the deal is pending Knesset approval, Israel Radio reported Sunday night.
Eitan said that according to Mazuz, without such a clause, Israel would be committed to any agreement signed at the conference, irrespective of the Knesset’s position. [...]
But let’s see how long it is until he’s caught in the Olmert regime’s revolving door — heading out again to kill and maim more Jews! MB
