Gala Hachnasat Sefer Torah in Yishuv Adura, Sivan 13, 5767; 30 May, 2007

The Sefer Torah Recycling Network takes pleasure in announcing that a Hachnasat Sefer Torah took place on Wednesday evening at Yishuv Adura in Har Chevron. All who attended the event experienced a truly special and uplifting evening.

At 5:30 PM on Wednesday, our 2 buses set out for Adura, arriving at 6:15.

After davening Mincha, the dancing and music commenced, with our Sefer Torah being held by Moshe Becker, the father of Arik Becker z”l, one of the victims of the attack. Our Sefer was accompanied by two other S’fardi Sifrei Torah as we danced from the Yishuv’s community center all around the Adura community and then to a park area dedicated to the memory of the 5 terror victims .That is where the dancing continued and where the speeches took place.  [...]  Click here to read more.

MK Ami Ayalon, who came in second to former prime minister Ehud Barak in Monday’s Labor primary and will face off against him in a June 12 runoff, slammed Barak on Tuesday for taking advantage of the votes of Israeli Arabs.

Sources close to Ayalon pointed out that even though Barak received more votes overall, 23,887 to 20,514,

    Ayalon received more votes among Jewish voters.

The Merrill Lynch investment house has advised the Bank of Israel to halt the cuts in interest rates and allow the low rate to take effect. The Bank again cut the prime rate by a quarter of a percent for June. Rates have dropped by two percent in the past several months.

The dollar-shekel rate rose to 4.048 Wednesday morning, and several analysts suggested that investors may be nervous about the prospects that Defense Minister Amir Peretz may serve as Foreign Minister.  [...]  Click here to read more.
