Two IDF troops were killed and one reported kidnapped on Sunday when Palestinians attacked a military post and two vehicles in an operation that touched off a gunbattle with soldiers that also left four IDF troops hurt and four gunmen dead.

If a foreign planner, free of preconceptions, were to be asked to suggest solutions to the problem of the rockets being fired from Gaza, he would certainly demand considering the return of the IDF ground forces to the Gaza Strip, or at least to its northern sector, from which the range of the rockets reaches the outlying areas of Ashkelon to the north.
Taking control of this sector, to the point of erecting a fence within it, would be costly and would create other problems, but it would solve the problem of the Qassams – until the range of the rockets is increased, or until masses of Katyushas and Grads are imported.

Poll: Public Against Expulsion Program

A public poll conducted by a widely respected American pollster reveals that the public has turned sour on demolishing Jewish communities and expelling their residents. More than two-thirds of those who backed last year’s expulsions object to Prime Minister Ehud Olmert’s plan to continue with more destruction and expulsions.
Arthur Finkelstein supervised the survey on behalf of the Israel Beitainu (Israel Is Our Home) party, which is the main benefactor of growing disappointment with the Kadima party.
