Two Sifrei Torah donated for Placement in Needy Communities

Two Sifrei Torah have been donated by Phil Chernofsky on behalf of theOU Israel Center in Jerusalem .

One of the S'forim was placed with a gala Hachanasat Sefer Torah celebration on 25 November, 2004 in Yeshiva Re'uta. The Yeshiva is located on Moshav Carmel which is situated south of Chevron. The Sefer Torah Recycling Network wishes hearty thanks and Yashar Ko'ach to the Schilit family of Beit Shemesh for defraying the restoration costs and for placing the Sefer Torah in the Yeshiva where their son is an Avere'ich. For full coverage and pictures from this Hachnasat Sefer Torah celebration, click here.

The other Sefer was placed in Yeshiva Knesset Yisrael Junior-Senior High/Yeshiva upon the institution's opening this past September. The Hachnasat Sefer Torah will be held between Purim and Pesach in commemoration of a Yahrtzeit of the family which defrayed its restoration.

I wish to express my sincerest and heartfelt thanks to Phil Chernofsky and Israel Center for their kindness and generosity in donating the two Sifrei Torah for restoration and placement in needy locations as well as for all of the help, support and publicity provided for the Hachnasat Sefer Torah celebration which took place on 4 July, 2004 in Yishuv Shi-rat HaYam in Gush Katif.
