Legal Decisionmaker AG Mazuz in Omri’s and Olmert’s Back Pocket on Pre-Election Sharon Permanent Incapacitation Call?

[With Elections Over] Sharon Given Virtually No Chance of Regaining Consciousness

Commentary;

[IMRA: “Sharon is given virtually no chance of regaining consciousness” – but Attorney General Mazuz refused to act on this fact before the elections. It would have meant the very real possiblity that Binyamin Netanyahu, as head of the Likud party, would have run in the elections as prime minister and Mr. Olmert and his Kadima party would run as members of the opposition. Olmert would not have enjoyed the daily stream of PM photo-ops and he would have had to deal with a group bickering “Volvo-less” (not ministers) Kadima party colleagues.] read more

Excerpts: Supreme Court Cheshin’s Early Retirement Interview Re: Alleged Sharon Scandal Cases …

Text: Supreme Court Judge Cheshin Implies Disengagement Saved PM Sharon from Indictment

Excerpts;

…”For Barak, if the Knesset passes a law by a majority of a hundred to two, he can come and assert that the law is annulled. I think that is not a serious position.”

“Fight corruption with all your strength,” Cheshin urged his colleagues in his farewell speech three months ago. “Do not forsake the war day or night. It is a matter of life and death for us and for the state. Let us oversee them from the outside.” When the Movement for Quality Government petitioned the High Court of Justice, together with others, against Attorney General Menachem Mazuz in the wake of his decision two years ago to close the Greek island case against then-prime minister Ariel Sharon, seven justices sat on the panel. Six of them decided to reject the petitions; Cheshin alone wanted to issue an interim order and have the investigation proceed. read more

The Car Needs a Front-End ‘Realignment’ …

While saying over the vort on this week’s Parsha HaShevua, a few thoughts occured to this author which are presented here.

One thought is about Ehud Olmert’s latest term for disengagement = expulsion (convergence, consolidation), ‘realignment.’

It would seem that Olmert looks at Medinat Yisrael as an out-of-alignment auto. Apparently those “crazy believing Jews” with their connection to Eretz Yisrael, have kareemed over too many speed-bumps and thrown the national auto out of alignment. Ergo, the latest name for Olmert’s hope — Expulsion of more Jews shall henceforth be known as “realignment”, until the rocket-scientists come up with still another synonym. read more

MK Gafni, Where’s the Teeth???

UTJ to Tie Gush Katif Expellees to Coalition Talks

Commentary;

But does Gimmel really know how to make specific conditions with teeth that will compell prompt government compliance with it’s own Knesset-passed laws regard prompt, no-strings-attached and complete compensation of ALL that is due to ALL of the Gush Katif/Shomron refugees of last summer’s Israeli Government expulsions of Jews from those areas.

Or is all of this a negotiations ploy on Gimmel’s part which will be dropped like a hot potato as soon as all of their own financial requirements are met? With Gimmel, after they joined Sharon’s Expulsion Regime, history shows that one can’t know their [Gimmel’s] true motivations for sure. MB read more

Olmert’s False Personal Imagery …

Column One: Hitler is Still Dead, by Caroline Glick

Excerpts;

In his speech before a joint session of Congress on Wednesday, and during his meetings with administration officials on Monday and Tuesday, Olmert strove to be perceived as the natural and legitimate heir to the image of Israel as an independent, strong and bold young country. In his address before Congress, Olmert said, “Our two great nations share a profound belief in the importance of freedom and a common pioneering spirit deeply rooted in optimism. It was the energetic spirit of our pioneers that enabled our two countries to implement the impossible. To build cities where swamps once existed and to make the desert bloom.” read more
