Column One: An Acceptable Cease-Fire, By Caroline Glick

Excerpts;

Benn continued, “The moment Hizbullah took control over… south [Lebanon] and armed itself with thousands of Katyushas and other rockets, a stable balance of deterrence was created on both sides of the border.”

On Thursday, Benn wrote a follow-up column excusing his own blindness by noting that “the IDF, the intelligence services and the government, which have at their disposal much better sources of information than mine, thought the same” of Nasrallah in the days before his Iranian bosses ordered him to war. read more

Hypocritical Quote for the Ages from COS Halutz: “Our Moral Strength and Value …”

COS Dan Halutz said in a letter to soldiers and officers:

“We are being tested at this time. Our moral strength and value will reflect on the state of Israel and its residents and on their ability to continue to stand up to the threat on the front.”

Commentary;

This seemingly high-minded quote was spoken by the Chief of Staff who oversaw, and under whom the IDF served as the vehicle for, the persecution, eviction and expulsion of Jews from Gush Katif and from the Shomron — integral parts of Eretz Yisrael, our divine legacy from Shemayim. MB read more

Israel’s September 10th Syndrome Exploded: A Must Read …

The View from Haifa September 10th Syndrome By Steven Plaut

Excerpts;

I could still hear Peres’s words echoing when Katyusha rockets began exploding in Haifa a few days ago, some of them just several blocks from my home. Filled with thousands of lead pellets to maximize the carnage, one of them ended the lives of nine people in a Haifa train depot. read more

View of War in the North Up Close …

Our World: How I Spent My Summer Vacation, By Caroline Glick

Excerpts;

As I drove along the empty, beautiful, mountain road and gazed at the rocket smoke buffeting upwards from Mt. Meron, Safed, and Rosh Pinna below me, commentators on the radio kept asking, “Why is Hizbullah attacking Israel now?” Former generals spoke of the need for Israel to restore our deterrence against Hizbullah.

FOR SIX years, since Ehud Barak surrendered to the demands of the radical, EU-funded Israeli Left and withdrew IDF forces from southern Lebanon in May 2000, Israel stood by and did nothing as Hizbullah built up its massive arsenal of rockets and missiles. The IDF did nothing as Iran effectively set up shop along the border. read more

Israeli Ground Troops Enter Lebanon

Excerpts;

At daybreak Wednesday, a small number of Israeli troops were operating just across the border inside southern Lebanon, looking for tunnels and weapons, the Israeli military said without providing any more details.

The incursion came a day after Israel indicated that it might send large numbers of ground troops into the southern Lebanon, but Israel’s U.N. Ambassador Dan Gillerman denied Wednesday’s operation was part of any such operation.

“What is going on at the moment is a number of Israeli ground troops very near to the border on the Lebanese side, trying to destroy some Hezbollah outposts,” he told CNN. read more
