Horrendous Cease-Fire…

Comment: An Unmitigated Disaster, By Caroline Glick

Excerpts;

There is a good reason that Hizbullah chief Hassan Nasrallah has accepted UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which sets the terms for a cease-fire between his jihad army and the State of Israel.

The resolution represents a near-total victory for Hezbollah and its state sponsors Iran and Syria, and an unprecedented defeat for Israel and its ally the United States. This fact is evident both in the text of the resolution and in the very fact that the US decided to sponsor a cease-fire resolution before Israel had dismantled or seriously degraded Hezbollah’s military capabilities. read more

A TRUE Jewish Army: In Their Merit; Total, Complete, Unequivocal Victory …

On Friday night, Rav Chaim Zev Malinowitz spoke of an email which he received being a subscriber to the Pirchei Shoshanna Hilchos Shabbos email list. He explained that ordinarily he doesn’t have the time to read these emails, but this week, he read this particular posting.

The point of Rav Malinowitz’s Drash on Friday night and this author’s vort during Seudat Shlish’t was that, here were these soldiers, in the heat of war, with concern for the nations welfare and for their own survival and yet, while having to violate Shabbos for pikuach nefesh in defense of the Jewish people, still sought to keep Shabbos in a way pleasing to Hashem. read more

Jews: Rise Up and Force Victory Upon Incompetent Leaders …

Why Israel Must Win, By Caroline Glick

Excerpts;

Under attack domestically, both Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair have less time and ability to rally their nations to fight against the forces of global jihad. Moreover, as a result of its own culture wars, Israel today finds itself led by the weakest government it has ever had. The weakness of all three governments presented Iran with an unmistakable opportunity to strike.

Today, the ability of both Blair and Bush to convince their nations to support their war efforts against forces committed to the destruction of their nations’ ways of life is dependent on Olmert’s ability to lead Israel to victory in the war against Hizbullah. read more

A Spirit of Absolute Folly…

A Spirit of Absolute Folly, By Ari Shavit (Haaretz)

Excerpts;

In the difficult summer of 2006, the State of Israel is declaring in astonishment: They surprised us. They surprised us in a big way. They surprised us with Katyushas and they surprised us with the Al-Fajr rockets and they surprised us with the Zelzal missiles. They surprised us with anti-tank missiles. And they surprised us with the operational skill of the anti-tank squads. They surprised us with the bunkers and the camouflage. They surprised us with the command and monitoring. They surprised us with strategy, fighting ability and a fighting spirit. They surprised us with the astonishing power that a small death-army with low technology and high religious motivation can have. read more

Olmert Must Go …

Opinion: Olmert Cannot Remain in the Prime Minister’s Office By Ari Shavit (Haaretz)

Excerpts;

Ehud Olmert may decide to accept the French proposal for a cease-fire and unconditional surrender to Hezbollah. That is his privilege. Olmert is a prime minister whom journalists invented, journalists protected, and whose rule journalists preserved. Now the journalists are saying run away. That’s legitimate. Unwise, but legitimate.

However, one thing should be clear: If Olmert runs away now from the war he initiated, he will not be able to remain prime minister for even one more day. Chutzpah has its limits. You cannot lead an entire nation to war promising victory, produce humiliating defeat and remain in power. You cannot bury 120 Israelis in cemeteries, keep a million Israelis in shelters for a month, wear down deterrent power, bring the next war very close, and then say – oops, I made a mistake. That was not the intention. Pass me a cigar, please. read more
