Philadelphi Corridor, International Troops in Gaza, Yesha, … and Jerusalem?

.
IDF Considers Retaking Philadelphi, by Yaakov Katz (Jerusalem Post)

Commentary;

The above headline carries a gross misconception. IDF doesn’t shave, let alone retake an area vital to Israel’s security without approval, however tentative and hesitant, by political echelons [strong emphasis on political.]

Just as Olmert, Barak and their lackies waffle repeatedly regarding a “possible” Gaza invasion and energy sactions, so too, expect a lot of waffling and equivocation regarding the security of the Jewish people which necessitates retaking of the Philadelphi corridor. read more

Parsha Bo: Finding the Emunah to Break Out of Apathy and Fear’s Box

.

Moshe Burt

Parsha Bo is the one which, for me, annually relates to that crazy tune which played back “in the Old Country” a couple of decades ago, “Does Your Korbon Pesach Lose It’s Flavor Tied to the Bedpost Overnight?” (Actually, the real title to the song was “Does Your Chewing Gum Lose It’s Flavor on the Bedpost Overnight?”)

Over the years, this author has opened with this nutty parody of mine because it cuts right to the very heart of our Parsha. That is the Mitzvot of taking the Korbon Pesach, applying the da’am on Jewish doorposts, the going up from Mitzrayim (Egypt) to “…a land flowing with milk and honey …” and the first mitzvah commanded of the National entity (B’nai Yisrael), the Kiddush HaChodesh — the sanctification of the New Moon and the relevance today of these mitzvot which relate to emunah (belief in) and yirat (fear of)Hashem. read more

Olmert, Livni, Barak Regime Bungle National Defense With Destructo Diplomacy

.

Commentary;

Just as Olmert boasted that the summer 2006 Lebanon debacle was a boon for “convergence, realignment, consolidation” or whatever other synonyms he chose on whatever day, Dr. Aaron Lerner’s weekly commentary decries Olmert’s recent Annapolis boasts. Olmert’s latest so-called “peace” efforts “presenting Israeli withdrawals as a gain rather than sacrifice” and his bogus assertions that “Israel has no choice but to accept a final status deal at any price” are part of the regime’s destructo “diplomacy” which only further emboldens the murderous Islamic enemy. Parsha Chaye Sarah 5768: Avraham’s Attribute of Intuitive Perception, Will It Rub Off on Us?

.

by Moshe Burt

There are two intriguing commentaries, each relating to a different posuk of Parsha Chaye Sarah, regarding the dialogue leading up to Avraham Aveinu’s acquisition of the Ma’arat HaMachpela for 400 shekels of silver from Efron the Hittite.

The first of the two posukim is spoken by Avraham and says, in part, “I will have given the money for the field; take it of me …” (Breish’it, Perek 23, posuk 13)

“…That a man may marry a woman by using money to effect the marriage is deduced in the Talmud (Kiddushin 2) by drawing a parallel from this verse. But the parallel goes beyond merely the acquisition of the land of the Efronite and the acquisition of a wife. Just as in a marriage the act of acquisition is only the beginning and not the end, because that is when all one’s obligations begin — food, clothing, etc. — the same is true in our dealings with the Efronites. Nothing ends with written contracts and agreements. We pay, pay and pay again, and yet they keep demanding more from us.” (Torah Gems on Chaye Sarah, page 182 quoting Rabbi A.M. Amiel) read more

Yom Kippur: Unity, Brachot and the Jews; Kohanim to Mankind — Redux

.

By Moshe Burt

The Mussaf portion of any prayers; Yom Tov, Rosh Chodesh, Shabbos represent the essence, the main point of that day.

On Yom Kippur, the essence of the service, the ikar is the avodah of the Kohen Godol. So much so is this the case that the Mussaf service centers around the order of the Kohen Godol’s service in the Kodosh Kodoshim (the Holy of Holies in the Beit HaMikdash). The service includes all of the preparations which the Kohen Godol makes prior to the service, the clothing he must wear at each step of the avodah, the number of times that the Kohen must bathe himself prior to each change of clothing and before each step of his service, the drawing of lots determining which goat is for Hashem and which for The Mountain of Azazel (the goat designated by lot to bear the burden of death to rectify B’nai Yisrael’s sins) and more. And by virtue of our being Hashem’s “most favored nation”, The Kohen Godol is to the Jews a paradigm of Hashem’s blueprint of what the Jews are to represent to the other nations of Mankind. read more

How Long Will Successive Regimes Cloak Their Hatred for Jewish Heritage in Bogus Catch-Phrases, Euphemisms and Rationales?

.

This author spent this past Shabbos with other members of Shul in Hevron. In what has become an annual trip to Hevron, the city of our roots, the place where our Patriarchs; Avraham, Yitzchak and Yaakov are buried with their wives; Sarah, Rifka and Leah, we endeavor to put ourselves in the proper mindset in advance of the Yom HaDin — Rosh Hashana. Below are some thoughts to contemplate as the Chagim draw closer.

Before Shabbos and during Shabbos afternoon, we were taken on tours and shown various locales in and around the Jewish section of Hevron where Jewish communities have been or are being established, property having been perfectly legally purchased from previous Arab owners and yet, these purchases agreements are contested by the politically agendized and protexia regime, the leftist, elitist Israeli “justice system” and the leftist, elitist, good-old-boys protexa Israeli bureacracy. read more

The Jewish Nation and the Ongoing Oppression Against It By Successive Israeli Regimes and Elites

.

Barak of IRIS has posted two MUST-READ contrasting blog entries which clearly indicate the heights of selflessness which the Jewish nation can reach were they not strangled and oppressed by, as Barak himself puts it; “the protexia class that oppresses her.”

The story of Cpt. Edan Morag, who selflessly set aside his own survival interest to run through a minefield to save his fellow wounded soldiers, exemplifies the highest levels of dedication and battlefield valor, ideals and values inculcated to IDF soldiers since Israel’s modern-day inception. These ideals and values, whether the leftist elitists like it or not, are rooted in Torah — pikuach nefesh for one’s fellow Jews. There are many other documented stories of heroism in battle during the Lebanon conflict such as the one posted to this blog after the Lebanon conflict about IDF Officers such as Roi Klein and Amihai Merhavia, as well as stories of heroism from all of modern-day Israel’s previous wars. read more

Bibi Wins Big in Likud Primary, Feiglin Doubles Previous Vote Result

This is a difficult post to write. Tuesday’s primary vote was accompanied by expectations that a faith-based candidate would finally win out and lead Likud, or that the vote count would reach to the mid-30s %. This author is digesting the results of the primary, with great digestive difficulty.

But, it seems apparent that the typical Likud member, emblematic of the typical Israeli, still lacks the equipment, the erudition to see beyond the brain-washing, the dumbing-down, political-orientation and is incapable of stepping outside of his current lifestyle, stepping outside of his insatiable lust for convenience and privilege to battle for change from rot, corruption and protexia. Major, radical surgery is required on Israel’s leftist bureaucratic institutions, educational systems and governance which is out of control, anti-Jewish, anti-Torah. Jews must once again care for each other and unify for the collective security and good of the nation. read more

Ehud Olmert’s Appalling Callousness Toward His Jewish Constituents

.

The callous insensitivity of Ehud Olmert for the Jews of Israel is outrageous and becoming apparent, even outside Israel. The article below is by no means a one-time aberration. For a few examples in the long litany of such instances, click here, here, here, here and more recently; here and here. MB

Peres and Olmert Prepare to Carve Up Israel on Both Sides of “Green Line (sic)”

.

Despite PMO denials, that aides to President Peres confirm the Haaretz report makes it a good bet that the plan which Olmert denies is on the table. In addition, the credibility of PMO denials is null. For example, remember this classic denial which turned into “convergence, consolidation, realignment” which Olmert still pursues, but under cover of a negotiated Israeli-Palestinian (sic) agreement for a “Palestinian (sic) State.
