We leyned in the previous Parsha Mikeitz about the whole affair between Yosef and the brothers when they came to Mitzrayim to buy food and were accused by the Viceroy of being spies. We learned how after hearing their story and family history, the Viceroy demanded that they bring their youngest brother to him and incarcerated Shimon as insurance that the brothers would indeed return with Binyamin, their youngest brother. We learn that in the middle of Parsha Mikeitz, with the imprisonment of Shimon, the brothers recognized and attributed their predicament to the sin they had committed earlier by throwing Yosef into the pit and then selling him to the Mitzriyim. Yosef heard and understood their conversation and left their presence to cry silently. (Perek 42, posukim 21-24)

What Really Moves Olmert Regime? US Pressure a Lame Excuse
Column One: Glad Tidings of Peace [??] Processes, by Caroline Glick (Jerusalem Post)
“Diskin inanely opined that if Israel responds to the rocket attacks on Sderot’s kindergartens, elementary schools and apartment blocks, Hamas will get really mad at us for breaching the cease-fire that only the IDF upholds and will continue to attack us.”
“While Olmert is planning to spring terrorists from prison next week in honor of the Islamic holiday, Gaza’s Christians were too terrified to go to their Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve. So the mass was cancelled.”
Is Olmert Recklessly Endangering the Jews?

Commentary;
Thanks to Dr. Aaron Lerner of IMRA for this analysis of the US definition of Reckless Endangerment as it relates to Ehud Olmert’s decision to implement lifting roadblocks in Yehuda and the Shomron.
Under our law, a person is guilty of Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree when, under circumstances evincing a depraved indifference to human life, that person recklessly engages in conduct which creates a grave risk of death to another person.
The Futility of Substituting Money for Jewish National Responsibility
Analysis: It’s About Ideology, Stupid, Herb Keinon (Jerusalem Post)
Excerpts;
The newest buzzword in Middle East diplomacy is “strengthening the moderates.” This is an expression that continuously rolls off the tongues of both world and Israeli leaders these days. Prime Minister Ehud Olmert uses this phrase repeatedly and heard it often on his visit two weeks ago to Rome and Berlin, and in his meetings last week with the visiting prime ministers from Britain and Norway.
The question is how to do it. How do you prop up the moderates? On Saturday night, Olmert gave his answer: by providing the moderates with money. And he is not alone in the belief that this is the way to help combat Islamic extremists.

“The Foreign Ministry declared Sunday night, ‘In effect, it cannot be said that a cease-fire truly exists.’ The statement was made shortly after Arab terrorists attacked a house in Sderot with a Kassam rocket, causing heavy damage and narrowly missing a direct hit on a family.”

The Consequences of Olmert Regime’s Utter Dependence on Bosom of US Aid
Here are two important stories regarding the consequences of the Olmert regime’s total and complete dependence upon the US and the nations to insure Israel’s security;
U.S. Blocks Arms, Technology To Israel (Middle East News Line)
The Bush administration has blocked arms and technology transfers to Israel.
Israeli and U.S. sources said the State Department has blocked the transfer of weapons and technology to the Jewish state over the last three months. The sources said the halt reflected deteriorating relations between the two countries since the end of the war in Lebanon in August 2006.

With An Incompetent Government and Biased, Opinionated MSM; Promote Private Initiative to Confront Jihad Head-On in the Arena of Ideas
Column One: Privatizing the War of Ideas, by Caroline Glick (Jerusalem Post)
“The Olmert government is simply incapable of conceptualizing policies capable of defending Israel.”
“Six years after the Palestinians launched their jihad, and five years after the jihadist attacks on the US, the governments of the free world remain deeply hesitant about engaging in a true ideological struggle with jihad.”
Commentary;
By the very title of this article, “Privatizing the War of Ideas”, Caroline Glick urges us, the citizens of Israel, to act privately in every possible venue, to “force our leaders to defend us publicly and to adopt policies based on reality that see victory rather than surrender as our best option moving forward. ”
Journalistic Pundits; Concentrate on Accurate Reporting of Past and Present, Not on Leftist Opinionated, Propagandist Punditism
Behind The Lines: The Press’s False Prophecies, By Anshel Pfeffer (Jerusalem Post)
“As journalists, we should concentrate on reporting the past and present, or on providing clever comment on what is happening now. If we have any predictions on what is expected, we should express them with the necessary care and humility, with a bit more ‘perhaps’ and ‘maybe.'”
Excerpts;
On my desk for the last few weeks has been sitting an amusing little Hebrew booklet, the translation of whose title is, They Promised a Dove. (This title is a take-off on a popular song from the early Nineties, from the perspective of the generation of children conceived after the Yom Kippur War, who are blaming their parents for not having brought peace.)
