This is not a joke. The above pictures and excerpt from theme song of the old, long-running American TV series is indicative of the real-life daily derelictions, abdications and abrogations of governing responsibility on the part of prime minister Olmert and his band of buffoons, some of which you can read below. Would that it were only incompetence, and having long since reached and exceeded their levels of incompeence. But the reality is far worse, that Olmert and his buffoons undertake a systematic attack on everything Jewish as well as all justice, integrity and morality. MB

Newsweek reporter Kevin Peraino wrote, “I found [Al Aksa Martyrs Brigades] boss Zacharia Zubeidi, sitting under a carob tree, chain smoking L&Ms, and otherwise doing nothing. ‘We’re just like the rest of the army. We have no duties.’… Despite the fact that Aqsa militants in the West Bank made an elaborate show earlier this week of turning in their Kalashnikovs and pledging to support for Abbas, Zubeidi made it clear that he still has access to his old weapons.”

The Haftorah for our Parsha begins, “Nachamu, Nachamu Ami yomar Elokeichem” — “Comfort, comfort my people — says your G’d.” (Yishaiya, 40:1) This sentiment seems to be silent, but yet a theme of Parsha Va’etchanan.
In the beginning of Parsha, Moshe Rabbeinu recalls for the B’nai Yisrael how he entreated Hashem for permission to cross the Jordan River but that his request was denied. Instead, he was consoled by viewing the Land from Mount Pisgah. (L’lmod Ul’Lamed – Parsha Va’etchanan, page 161)

Commentary:
As was previously posted on this blog, Olmert suddenly is talking offensively, rather than defensive protection of the citizens he governs. While he is very correct regarding the use of the term evacuation — in the context of causing a permanent retreat from a place, but what Olmert apparently means is forcing the citizens and children of Sderot, Ashkelon and other bordering locations to cower in their unreinforced homes and in their unprotected schools and ganim and in uninhabitable “bomb shelters” while Olmert commands the IDF to spend millions in bombing empty fields rather than bombing locations where the terrorists use human shield to protect themselves, their Kassams and other weapons and ammo.
