Beit Shemesh Municipal Elections: Emergence of Revolution in Governance?

.
As we see Israel beginning on the road to new national elections, it is important to note that these elections will take place sometime in February, 2009, whereas regularly scheduled municipal elections will take place throughout Israel on 11 November.

Municipal elections will choose Mayors and city councils in all of the major localities in Israel.

But nowhere else will these municipal elections impact on governing mindset as in the Beit Shemesh elections where Shalom Lerner and Moshe Abutbul knock heads with incumbent Mayor Dani Vaknin while a host of parties vie for representation on the 19 man Beit Shemesh city council. In this author’s humble opinion, Beit Shemesh faces a unique opportunity to be on the ground floor auguring in an era of governmental morality, efficiency, sensitivity and integrity by setting an example for all of Israel. read more

Separation?? Separation Walls?? Unilateral Separation; What a Laugh!

Cabinet Approves Transfer of NIS 50 Million to PA

Commentary;

For any intelligent, thinking Jew, these terms thinly cloak the true purposes of the Sharon-Olmert Regime. For such people, the cabinet approved transfer of NIS 50 million to the “pa(sic)” is a complete absurdity.

And Abbas’ promise to keep this funding out of Hamas hands, to use it toward humanitarian needs? If you believe that, there is a bridge to sell you — cheap!

True separation means total and complete separation. No electricity, no telephones, no illegal workers, no monetary transfers, for any reason. read more

Likud Paying Huge Price in Lost Votes for Bibi’s Demotion of Feiglin

.
Commentary:

The Jerusalem Post’s Gil Hoffman reports Binyamin Netanyahu has apparently engaged Avigdor Lieberman and Yisrael Beiteinu in a battle to regain votes for his Likud party as polls indicate that the gap between Likud and Kadima is narrowing while Yisrael Beiteinu’s popularity is mounting. Hoffman notes that;

According to a Ma’agar Mohot poll broadcast on Channel 2 last night, the Likud has lost six seats, including three to Israel Beiteinu… The poll showed Israel Beiteinu receiving 19 seats. read more

Olmert Plays on MKs’ Greed, Lust for Power Continuance; No Need for Etrog

.

Commentary;

If there is still any shred of doubt regarding the moral integrity, or lack thereof, and the priorities of nearly all Israeli MKs as portrayed in this blog’s numerous posts, this article should go a long way toward dispelling it.

Here, you have a prime minister who totally mis-managed a military conflict, is under police investigation for his possible role in at least three corruption scandals and is moving to hand over East Jerusalem, Har HaBayit, the Kotel and nearly all of Yehuda and Shomron to Islamic terrorists in order to decapitate the Jewish rosh from Israelis, even at the immense cost of Jewish life. Barely anyone in this self-interested Knesset lifts a finger, not even the so-called religious parties, to stop Olmert and put an end not only to his current regime, but to Israel’s entire system of corrupt governance. read more

Final Election Results: Kadima 28, Labor 20, Likud Clobbered …

National Elections — Final Results

This is a difficult moment, just as was the expulsion last August and the Amona Police Brutality last month.

A lot of questions need answering; Likud’s total collapse, how the Arab parties ended up with 10 mandates when all day long we were told about a remarkably low Arab turnout, the materialization of the orange vote, Hazit’s 65,000 plus “committed” voters, possible vote theft, and more.

Were our votes registered? There was at least one report of possible vote theft. read more

UTJ Hints: Will Join Kadima Government = Approval of Uprooting More Jews; Rav Eliyahu: Vote for Kadima Forbidden …

Olmert: Only Pro-Uprooting Parties in My Government

Excerpt;

In an attempt to win votes back, Kadima’s prime ministerial candidate, Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, announced last night that any party that refuses to accept the concept of “inward-turning” – the name he has given his plan to carry out further unilateral withdrawals – will not be invited to join the government he expects to form. Olmert thus hopes to play on the desires of Shas and Yisrael Beiteinu voters, and, to a lesser extent, those of the hareidi-religious United Judaism Party (UTJ), to see their parties in the government. read more

Israel: To “Disengage” or to Reach for the “Kingdom of David?”

A few days ago, this appeared on Ynet, as well as ion other English-language News sites; Rabbi: Disengage From State.

Excerpts:

A prominent Jewish messianist has called for religious Jews to disengage from the State of Israel due to the evacuation of Jewish communities in the Gaza Strip last summer.

“In a new book entitled ‘Between Light and Darkness,’ Rabbi Shalom Dov Wolpe, a leader of the Chabad Chassidic sect that believes its Chief Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson is the messiah, says religious Jews should view the secular government as an “administrative body, like the British government who controlled Israel before the country’s establishment. read more
