Pollard Writes to Captive Soldiers’ Families

Full Text;

Dear Shalit, Regev and Goldwasser Families,

From the moment Gilad was taken captive and then Eldad and Ehud shortly thereafter, I have not been able to stop thinking about them or about you. I pray every single day for their safe and swift return home, together with all of our MIAs and captives.

My wife Esther and I feel for you with all of our hearts. Although it is not easy for me to speak about the issue of captivity, I feel I must share with you what is in my heart. read more

Watch for Olmert to Break All of the Flowery Words and Promises Made in the Knesset Speech …

Fatah: Hamas Ready to Accept Deal on Ceasefire, Release of Shalit

Excerpts;

Senior Fatah sources in Gaza said on Saturday that Hamas is ready to accept a deal that involves freeing abducted Israel Defense Forces soldier Gilad Shalit, a joint cease-fire and an end to IDF actions in the Gaza Strip.

What is not clear is whether Khaled Meshal, the Hamas leader in Damascus, will sanction the Egyptian-brokered deal.

The initiative, proposed by Egypt and discussed by Palestinian leaders in Gaza in the last few days, consists of freeing Gilad Shalit, a joint cease-fire and the cessation of the IDF’s assassinations in the Gaza Strip and freeing Palestinian prisoners later on. read more

Israel’s September 10th Syndrome Exploded: A Must Read …

The View from Haifa September 10th Syndrome By Steven Plaut

Excerpts;

“All you do all day is threaten that there will be Katyusha rockets landing in Ashkelon. Would you mind telling me why there are no rockets fired from Aqaba to Eilat?” Foreign Minister and Labor MK Shimon Peres, Knesset minutes, September 9, 1993

I could still hear Peres’s words echoing when Katyusha rockets began exploding in Haifa a few days ago, some of them just several blocks from my home. Filled with thousands of lead pellets to maximize the carnage, one of them ended the lives of nine people in a Haifa train depot. read more

Politicization and Manipulation of Media to Give Only Regime Spin on Rockets in Lebanon?

MK Erdan: Restrict Publication of Rocket Landings

MK Gilad Erdan (Likud) called on Defense Minister Amir Peretz to enact Section 87 of Defense Emergency Regulations and tell the military censor to restrict media publication of the exact locations of rocket landings.

“The public feels a need to keep up with what’s going on, but it is still necessary to release strictly general information that’s not likely to aid the enemy and endanger the security of Israel and its citizens,” Erdan said. read more

Is Israel’s Spirit of Sacrifice Dying?

Israel’s New Fear By Ralph Peters

Excerpt;

Something big hasn’t happened in the current round of fighting between Israel and its terrorist foes. That absence represents a potentially fatal change in Israeli policy.

For all of the air-attacks on targets in Lebanon, the Israeli Defense Force has not sent in ground troops. If IDF tanks don’t thrust across the border in force in the next few days, it will reflect the greatest crisis of will in Israel’s history.

Israel is signaling its enemies that it’s afraid to risk its soldiers’ lives. And the terrorists read the message clearly. This caution will only encourage Israel’s enemies – just when the seemingly inevitable advent of Iranian nuclear weapons poses the greatest threat to Israel since 1948. read more

Army Soo Busy Defending Regime Against Jews, They Took Their Eyes Off of the Murderous Enemy …

Caught With Its Pants Down, By Yoel Marcus (Haaretz)

Excerpts;

The first thought that came to mind when I heard the Reshet Bet radio announcer say that the chief of staff had headed for his underground war room, a.k.a “the pit,” after the kidnapping of two soldiers by Hezbollah, was that he had gone there to hide in shame. Two embarrassing military bungles in less than a month, dictating a prisoner-release deal from the outset, is simply intolerable.

Our illustrious army, one of the most advanced in the world… has been caught twice with its pants down, in scenarios that had been foreseen. Major General Giora Eiland offered a blow-by-blow description of how we fell into a Hamas trap at the Kerem Shalom crossing. Despite the lessons of the past, despite updated alerts, despite being “prepared” for tunnels being dug by terrorists and possible kidnappings, the alarm was not sounded in time. read more

Hamas and Other “Pa (sic)” Murderers Give Israel Tuesday AM Deadline …

Militants: Israel Has until 6 A.M. Tuesday to Respond to Demands on Soldier’s Return

Excerpts;

The three Palestinian militant groups behind the kidnap of an Israel Defense Forces soldier on Monday gave Israel until 6 A.M. Tuesday to release Palestinian prisoners or “pay the consequences.”

The groups – Hamas’ military wing and two other factions -previously issued a demand for the release of 1,000 Palestinians jailed in Israel in exchange for Shalit’s return.

The defense establishment is prepared to release Palestinian prisoners who have not been convicted of hostile terror activity, if a deal is reached with Hamas on the release of Shalit and bringing calm to the Gaza-Israel border. read more

Rude Awakening to a Reality Ignored …

Israel’s Rude Awakening, By Caroline Glick

It is painful to watch Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Defense Minister Amir Peretz and Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni try to contend with the terrible outcome of the Palestinian terror strike against the IDF on Sunday morning.

They use so many fancy and angry words. They sound so resolute. And yet, they have nothing useful to say. Two soldiers are dead, a third is now the prisoner of jihadist killers, seven are wounded, an IDF border post has been overrun, and a world view and a security doctrine have been blown to smithereens. read more
