Will Olmert Bring Pollard Home? Is Olmert Man Enough? Probably Not!

Mr. Olmert, Don’t Come Back Without Pollard

Excerpts;

Mr. Olmert, as you head to Washington, you are taking with you secret information about the development of ballistic weapons of war in Iran for use in Iraq. The reliability of the information you will be bringing, and the details of Iraq’s war capabilities, may help the United States to fight more effectively in Iraq to save the world from the threat of nuclear war. Consequently, you know just how valuable this secret information is. Thus, you may even begin to appreciate the great sacrifice that Jonathan Pollard made in passing this kind of information to save the State of Israel from the threat of destruction. Israel is obliged to do everything possible to secure his release from prison. read more

Another Take on Next Tuesday’s Elections …

With thanks to and permission of Ellen Horowitz.

Bird Flu Over the Cuckoos Nest and Other Reflections
by Ellen W. Horowitz

Until a week ago, every time I spotted flocks of migratory birds from my kitchen window in the Golan Heights, I would grab the binoculars and rush the kids outside to watch a spectacular site. Nowadays, when I spot the flocks, I yell “duck”, grab the kids, and race into the house for cover.

That I have 10 chickens running around my backyard adds to my anxiety. I’ve come to like my chickens. If you recall, two years ago Purim, I expressed a different type of chicken anxiety in “One Tough Chicken.” And so every morning, I arise and look out of my window to see if they’re all still alive and well. It gives new meaning to the expression, counting your chickens before they…croak (G-d forbid). read more

South Africa in Israel?

Received this email today by way of a fellow recipient of a local email list.

“South America is Here”

“I am writing the following several minutes after entering my house, after long hours spent in Sha’arei Tzedek’s Emergency Room. I arrive there, in great urgency, after receiving a phone call from my 16-year-old daughter, who was on her way [to the hospital] in an ambulance after the Amona Pogrom. Thank God, my daughter wasn’t hurt; she was accompanying her friend who had been injured in the course of the pogrom. And again, thank God, her friend, who was hospitalized is also recuperating and will be released shortly, with the help of God. read more

Netanyahu: Bring Back the Honesty and Nobility of Begin

Commentary;

While Bibi speaks of high ideals of restoration of Likud to the honesty and nobility of Menachem Begin, who was once imprisoned, he [Bibi] acts to attempt to oust a latter-day Begin from Likud for dread fear of the Jewish Values which Moshe Feiglin seeks to bring to the fore.

The Swap Pops Up Again: Pollard for Barghouti? …

Al-Arabiya Director: Pollard for Barghouti

Excerpt;

“According to Abdul Rahman Al-Rashid, director of the United Arab Emirates-based satellite television station Al-Arabiya, the release of convicted terrorist leader Marwan Barghouti from Israeli jail is dependent upon the release of Jonathan Pollard from his American imprisonment. Pollard is serving a life sentence in federal prison for having passed along classified information to Israel.

Commentary;

It must be understood that this author lovingly prays for Jonathan Pollard’s release daily and Shabbos at every opportunity as well as encorporating a prayer for his release in each Vort on Torah spoken or written. And the possibility that Marwan Barghouti could be released is beyond sickening. read more

“Will Sharon continue … to turn Jew against Jew in the hopes of inciting a civil war?”

Heart-Rending Complete Speech of Caroline Glick

Excerpts:

“One of the most fundamental lessons we learned growing up in our parents’ house was the difference between reality and fantasy.”

“As children, the distinction seemed obvious to us. But apparently, the difference between the two is a lot less easy to discern than it would seem.”

“This must be the case because the fact of the matter is that today, for the second time in 12 years, a government of Israel — being led by an elderly politician with a distant past as a war hero — is basing its policies on fantasy rather than reality.” read more
