Earlier this afternoon, I made a call to Senator Frank Lautenberg’s office. I was told by one of his staff members that HE HAS RECEIVED A BARRAGE OF PHONE CALLS DEMANDING THAT THE SENATOR WORK TOWARDS FREEING JONATHAN POLLARD. THE PERSON I SPOKE WITH SAID THAT THE SENATOR’S STAFF HAS RECEIVED ABOUT 70 CALLS IN THE PAST COUPLE OF DAYS. I TOLD THE INDIVIDUAL THAT SENATOR LAUTENBERG HAD WRITTEN TO ME A FEW MONTHS AGO, STATING THAT HE WAS AGAINST THE RELEASE OF JONATHAN POLLARD AT THAT TIME. BECAUSE OF THE LARGE NUMBER OF PHONE CALLS, AND SUBSTANTIAL ATTENTION TO JONATHAN’S WELFARE, SENATOR LAUTENBERG IS REVISITING THE ISSUE! LET US KEEP UP THE PRESSURE AND GET JONATHAN HOME BY ROSH HASHANAH!!! read more

Yep, that’s me, making the point that needs to be made to the Foreign Ministry, and indeed every ministry and functionary of Israeli governance again and again and again until it sinks irrevocably into their consciousness; “But we ARE a Jewish state.”

Don’t Bet on Peres Helping Pollard

The well-meaning opinion writer below is engaging in wishful thinking and grabbing at straws — undoubtedly NOT something that the Freedom for Jonathan Pollard movement wants to be involved or associated with.

The writer himself revisits history in noting that Peres was [unelected] prime minister at the time of Pollard’s capture and encarceration.

Peres has a documented record of not letting the truth; his failures, i.e. his relationship with Arafat, his manipulation of Oslo upon the Jewish people, and the resultant abandonment of sizeable parts of Jewish land to the Arabs. He has never once admitted or been contrite for the error, the total folly of his ways, despite all of the loss of Jewish lives and the injuring and maiming of countless numbers of Jews. read more

Parsha Shelach 5772: Distorted Modern-Day Shelach and the Divine Incumbency of Dwelling in Eretz Yisrael

Our Parsha Shelach brings to mind the evolution of Israel’s political governmental scene today, particularly in light of last week’s Knesset vote-down, and abandonment by many herteofore supporters, of legislation which would have legalized, retroactively, previously governmentally approved construction in the Ulpana neighborhood of Beit El and in other locations. That such former vocal and high profile supporters of that legislation, such as Yisrael Beiteinu, many Likud and national religious cabinet ministers, backed down upon the threat of being fired for lack of coalition discipline shows clearly that the politicians have yet to learn and internalize the lessons which should have been gleaned after Jew expelled Jew from Gush Katif. read more
