Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told senior Kadima members on Wednesday night that he agrees with those who said the election was a referendum, the voice of the people, and Kadima has been chosen.

Olmert stated that since Kadima emerged the largest party, it is a vote of support for his policies, including plans to move ahead towards an agreement with the Palestinian Authority (PA), or in the absence of cooperation, moving forward with his “concentrating inward” plan, unilaterally. read more

A senior Labor party official said Wednesday that Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert will be making a major mistake if he includes Yisrael Beitenu’s Avigdor Lieberman in any coalition.

Olmert is set to receive the official summons from President Moshe Katzav today to form the next government. He has said he will include Lieberman in his new coalition.

“Olmert is acting foolishly,” said the source quoted by Haaretz news service. “In order to bring Lieberman in, he is blurring the guidelines and not mentioning the convergence at all.” read more
