How Perpared is Israel in Preventing Future Bombings? For Recapturing Gaza and Defending Against Terror Throughout Israel?

Closing Loopholes

Excerpts;

Two decisions made this week to close loopholes that compromise Israel’s security are as welcome as they are overdue.

A ruling of the High Court of Justice, authorizes the government to seal off two incomplete sections of the security barrier just north of Jerusalem, in areas that connect West Bank villages to Arab neighborhoods in the eastern part of the capital.

The cabinet’s move to revoke the permanent resident status that Hamas members living there have enjoyed until now. read more

Feelings of Dejection, Neglect and Defeat in Negev Towns Surrounding Gaza …

Sense of Forfeiture Near Gaza

Excerpts;

Israeli communities adjacent to the Gaza Strip have lost hope: Just over half a year since the disengagement, and their homes, some of which lie a couple of hundreds of meters from Qassam launch pads, have become a fire zone.

Hundreds of Qassam rockets were fired into these communities in the last few months. Promises of fortified roofs and sealed rooms proved to be nothing but sweet talk.

At the exception of one community, nothing happened.

“We are like geese in fire range,” residents told Isreal’s leading newspaper, Yedioth Ahronoth. “No one cares what’s happening here. No one. The state has abandoned us.” read more

Overcoming Kadima and the Challenge of Sinai

A tiny Jewish army equipped with little more than spitballs and slingshots defeated a massive Arab coalition united in their unwavering passion to destroy our beloved Jewish state. In short, that about sums up the War of Independence. The nations feared and respected the Jewish people, and we walked upright and proud.

58 years later: “We are tired of fighting. We are tired of being courageous. We are tired of winning. We are tired of defeating our enemies,” says Ehud Olmert. And a prime minister was elected on that platform. read more

Parsha Sh’mini — Call to Duty, Guard, Consistency!

Parsha Sh’mini — Call to Duty, Guard, Consistency!

By Moshe Burt

For seven days, Moshe taught Aaron HaKohen and his sons the laws of their Avodah in the Mishkan. As stated in a previous Parsha HaShevua, in Old Country terminology, they received OJT from Shemayim.

Our Parsha Sh’mini begins by relating that on the eighth day, Aaron and his sons commenced their Avodah HaKodosh; meant to be constant and consistent for all time.

But our Parsha also relates the tragedy of the deaths of Aaron’s two oldest sons, Nadav and Avihu who died while performing an unauthorized Service, offering a “strange fire …, which he [Hashem] did not command them…” (Artscroll Chumash, Vayikra, Perek 10, posuk 1) And our Parsha relates that “Hashem spoke to Aaron saying: Do not drink intoxicating wine, you and your sons …, when you come to the Ohel Mo’ed (the Tent of Meeting), that you not die — this is an eternal decree for your gemerations. In order to distinguish between the sacred and the profane …” (Artscroll Chumash, Vayikra, Perek 10, p’sukim 8-10). read more

MKs Hit Out at UAL-Hamas meeting

Excerpts;

Several MKs strongly criticized on Thursday the decision by United Arab List members to meet with a Hamas parliamentarian in east Jerusalem.

Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni called the meeting an “official representation of terror in the Knesset.”

Livni went on to explain that Interim Prime Minister Ehud Olmert proposed the revocation of Hamas PLC members’ Jerusalem residency because “the right to be in PA parliament does not include the right to be a member of a Palestinian terror organization.” Livni said that the Interior Ministry has the right to revoke the residency of whoever is deemed disloyal to Israel. read more
