Holocaust: 60 Years Later, Jewish Rescuers Ignored, Lessons Still Unlearned …

Olmert: Appeasement Recipe for Shoah

Excerpts;

In his speech, Olmert described the “innocent Jew,” armed only with his heritage, angering the Nazis because of Jewish moral values.

The lesson of World War II is that appeasement, concessions, and weakness are a recipe for a holocaust,” he said. “As a Jew, I always carry in my heart the seal of pain over the Holocaust of my brothers and sisters, but I’m proud for being the archenemy of Nazi evil.”

Group: Jewish Rescuers in the Holocaust Ignored

Excerpts;

Hillel Kook traveled from Mandatory Palestine to the United States in 1940 to create a Jewish legion to fight against the Nazis. But when he arrived and found out about the mass slaughter of European Jewry, he devoted himself to informing the American public about what was happening and pressing for political action to stop it.

His style clashed with that of American Jewish leaders, who preferred a backroom approach, but it succeeded in raising awareness and pushing US President Franklin D. Roosevelt to create the War Refugee Board. That agency, in turn, tasked Swedish diplomat Raoul Wallenberg with rescuing Hungarian Jews, some 100,000 of whom he was able to save.

Rebecca Kook, daughter of Hillel Kook and great-niece of former chief rabbi Avraham Yitzhak Kook, told her father’s story to the audience gathered to mark Holocaust Remembrance Day in Jerusalem’s Gilo neighborhood Monday.

It is a tale largely unknown to Israelis and Diaspora Jewry despite the preponderance of Holocaust education and memorializing. And that, charged Kook and those who arranged for her to speak Monday night, is due to willful neglect on the part of the Jewish establishment.

Commentary;

Olmert, the Jewish Agency and the “mainstream” Jewish organizations and establishment in Israel, the US and the world have not learned the lesson; appeasement, concessions, and weakness augar more emboldened terrorism, more murder and Jewish blood.

Olmert and Jewish establishment leaders just can’t extrapolate the lessons of the Holocaust and ascertain the complete folly and immorality of expulsion of Jews and abandonment of divinely-given Jewish Land to an enemy lusting for Jewish blood and destruction. Olmert’s words are therefore empty, devoid of meaning and worth about as much as “We know what to do” — as useless as spent tissue paper. MB
