The Fine line Between Torah Teaching and Attempted Political Exploitation of Olam HaBah, Shemayim for Sake of Political Power…

Shas Decides to Pull Election Ad

Full Text;

“Shas has decided to pull one of its election ads following the ruling of the head of the central elections committee, Judge Dorit Beinish, on Friday that the promo violated the laws governing election propaganda by promising anyone who voted for Shas a place in heaven.”

“Beinish asked the party to withdraw its ad, and said that if Shas did not comply voluntarily, she would enforce her decision.”

“Shas head Eli Yishai condemned the decision, calling it ‘silencing Torah teachings.’ Yishai characterized the ruling as based on hatred and engendering the ‘destruction of Judaism.”

“‘The ‘Thought Police’ blocks Jewish content.’ Yishai continued, ‘But doesn’t make any move to prevent Shinui’s ‘anti-Jewish’ material,’ Israel Radio reported.”

Commentary;

The Aharon Barak politically agendized Supreme Court and it’s Elections Judge has once again ruled legalizing the “thought police” to program how Israelis think and reason to conform to their anti-Jewish agenda. Justice Beinish is totally wrong; In a deocracy, there is supposed to be free thought and free exchange of ideas. But that’s not the point here.

The point is this; This author holds that this type of campaign, the programming by the religious parties of religious voter thought, i.e. “A Vote for Party A guarantees your place in Olam Habah” does NOT constitute the “teaching of Torah.” This type of promise is totally bogus and exploits the Chareidi religious tendency to “follow the Gadol” and to vote accordingly.

In short, the point made by this author is; No “Gadol” is worthy to be a Gadol if he consciously and knowingly condones this type of political pressure; i.e. this type of peer group pressure and the politicization of Shemayim for the political gain of ANY party to whom the Gadol is affiliated and for whom the Gadol decides p’shat.
