The Hypocracy of the Sharon/Olmert “Leadership of Expedience” and Impact on How Bush Administration, American People View Israel

Weekly Commentary: Olmert’s Reality Gap

Another Tack: Olmert’s Middle Schmiddle

Excerpts;

“During this entire campaign we’ve heard nothing unambiguous from prime-ministerial front-runner Ehud Olmert. Saying nothing to all people advantageously ensconces Kadima’s headliner on the much-touted middle ground, hyped as creditable and dependable. Those who won’t flock to that indistinct nondescript space under his leadership are denigrated as fanatics. read more

The Unreliability of Polling Stats in Israel …

Likud: Olmert’s Interview Will Hurt Him

A friend wrote comments in an email which are deemed appropo for inclusion here;

“I am still hoping for and would not be surprised by election results very different than the polls due to the well-known reasons; size of polling data, leftist slant and undecided people, and many people who will eventually vote Likud and Labor instead of Kadima due to longstanding loyalties.

There is one more reason I would like to add: Incompetence. Olmert, Livni, Ezra and the Kadima gang are NOT top-level people (maybe with the exception of Olmert) and they have risen to their level of incompetence. In fact they jumped to their current level due to very unusual circumstances and not due to “promotion” due to good service at their previous levels. Therefore we have been seeing policy and campaign mistakes on their part due to hubris and general lack of competence. This will hopefully cause them to continue to sink in the polls.” read more

Motivation Problematic in IDF After Expulsions from Gush Katif, Amona …

Gush Katif Spokesman Declares Victory

Excerpts;

“Eran Sternberg, thrown out of his home in Gush Katif last summer, says that the reports of ‘concern in the IDF’ over lack of motivation among future officers are a sign that his approach is correct.”

“IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Dan Halutz has publicly acknowledged that the IDF’s active involvement in the expulsion from Gush Katif and the destruction of nine houses in Amona has led to much ‘bad feeling’ among many of its best soldiers.” read more

Parsha Tetzaveh 5766 — Where’s Moshe? And What it Means …

Parsha Tetzaveh 5766 — Where’s Moshe? And What it Means …

by Moshe Burt

In our Parsha Tetzaveh, the laws regarding the annointment, the vestments and the Avodah (service) of the Kohanim are enunciated for the Jewish people. But wait! Stop the music. Something seems amiss.

Our Parsha, unlike any other place throughout Torah (including Sefer Devarim where Moshe himself speaks to the Jewish people in one continuous Mussar shmooze reviewing the laws and the events of the 40 years in BaMidbar and where each of the Parshiyot are distinguished only by the sections Halachas enunciated) from the time of his birth through Vezos HaBeracha, omits any mention of Moshe Rabbeinu. read more

Halutz, Ezra Seem Unable to Get Their Stories Straight …

Halutz Contradicts Ezra at Amona Investigation

Contradiction Between Testimonies of Ezra and Halutz

Excerpts;

“Chief of General Staff, Lt.-Gen. Dan Halutz, appeared before the Amona investigative committee on Wednesday. ‘In no way did I understand that the Amona evacuation was similar to the Gaza evacuation,’ he said.”

“‘The Gaza evacuation was an operation conducted against legal settlements, while Amona was about enforcing the law and order against illegal construction. Therefore I see no room to compare the two events at their base level,’ said Halutz.” read more

Ehud, Be Careful With That “Victory” Cigar …

Olmert: Kadima Has Already Won the Election Campaign

Excerpt;

“‘The question of who will win has already been decided. Now the question is if we will be strong and big enough in order to do everything we need to do. We thus need as many seats as possible,’ Olmert said as a conference of immigrants in Rishon Letzion.”

Commentary;

Ehud Olmert’s pre-mature pronouncement of victory reminds this author of “Red” Auerbach, the former coach of basketball’s Boston Celtics when the established a long-running dynasty in the NBA. It seems that whenever the Celtics seemingly had a lock on winning the game in it’s late going, Auerbach would light his victory cigar. And much to this author’s dismay, anger and dislike of “Red” Auerbach, he was seldom, if ever wrong. read more
