Bush: Say No to Olmert, by Daniel Pipes
President Bush Not Expected to Support Convergence Plan
We can only hope that this report is correct and that President Bush listens to voices such as Daniel Pipes and to the writer of this email below which has been distributed widely;

Bar-Yochai, Happy is the Nation that Learns From You, Rabbi Dov Begon
Excerpts;
Rabbi Shimon Bar-Yochai merited this stature by virtue of self-sacrifice. He was ready to exempt the whole world from divine punishment through his suffering, like loving parents who are ready to suffer so that their children don’t have to (see Succah 45b). Rabbi Shimon Bar-Yochai particularly felt the pain of the Jewish People and of Eretz Yisrael. He couldn’t bear to have a foreign nation, the Romans, ruling over the People and the Land of Israel; and he spoke to the Roman’s detriment. As a result, the Romans pursued him and wished to kill him, and he was forced to hide in a cave for twelve years with his son.
IDF General Says Katyusha Not an Escalation of PA Terrorism
Excerpts;
Despite heavy damage to a chicken coop, Chief of IDF intelligence Gen. Amos Yadlin says that Tuesday’s firing of a Katyusha rocket is not an escalation of the conflict between Israel and the PA.
Yadlin supported his view by comparing Tuesday’s attack on Netiv HaAsarah with a similar strike which occurred on March 28, the date of the Israeli election. That strike caused no injuries or damage. Tuesday’s attack, however, caused substantial damage to a chicken coop. No one was injured, but 30 birds were destroyed.
Rashi asks a critical question on the very first posuk of our Parsha; “Hashem spoke to Moshe on Har Sinai, saying.” (Parsha Behar, Vayikra Perek 25, posuk 1) He asks why the laws of Shemittoh are singled out as having been given at Sinai. Were not all of the Mitzvot said at Sinai?” He answers that just as all of the Mitzvot; their general rules and their specifics were taught at Sinai, so too were the general rules and specifics regarding Shemittoh taught at Sinai. Rashi then reasons that the posuk comes to teach us that every utterance said to Moshe, they were all from Sinai.
I Give Up on Israel, by Joseph Farah

Excerpts;
I am through defending Israel – at least the regime currently in power in Jerusalem, this useless coalition seemingly hell-bent on committing national suicide.
Next week, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, a man I once considered, like his predecessor, Ariel Sharon, a reasonable, rational, level-headed defender of his country, is set to visit Washington with his hand out.
He is asking for an initial commitment of up to $10 billion in direct U.S. aid to implement his plan for national retreat, appeasement of the global jihad and a new sellout of more than 200,000 Israeli civilians who have made their homes in historically Jewish lands in Judea and Samaria at the behest and recommendation of earlier Israeli governments.
PM Olmert Implicated in Questionable Land Deal

Excerpts;
In the latest scandal linking the Israeli leader to government corruption, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert allegedly intervened in 2004 beyond his position as then-industry and trade minister in the sale of a port that was greatly undervalued using questionable methods, according to a state comptroller’s report.
Israeli Comptroller Micha Lindenstrauss also slammed the country’s police and the attorney general, Menachem Mazuz, for the “ease and frequency” of decisions to dismiss criminal complaints without investigation. Mazuz many times has closed corruption investigations on government officials, including Olmert.
Eitan Refuses to Sign Pollard Petition

Excerpts;
Pensioners Minister Rafi Eitan said on Tuesday that a discreet course of action was necessary to secure the release of Jonathan Pollard, imprisoned in the United States for selling US military secrets to Israel, and refused to sign a petition circulated among MKs demanding that Pollard be let out.
NU-NRP MK Uri Ariel initiated the petition, which has thus far been signed by some 60 MKs from various factions. The document will be submitted to US President George W. Bush via Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, who plans to visit Washington next week, Israel Radio reported.
