Car stickers for Judean Jews only formalize discrimination.
The request of the Israeli government for Israeli citizens to place a sticker on their car if they live in Judea was stated as a way to “ease the situation at the checkpoints.”
The only problem is that the move does nothing to do so.
Having lived in the Judean city of Efrat for 21 of my 36 years in Israel, I can attest to the fact that most people who live here did not grasp the loss of human rights and civil liberties until the government suggested that their cars be labeled for inspection.
It is rare that this blog will present war news regarding Iraq, but today’s news is noteworthy for it’s possible impact on the Terror War beyond only Iraq.
Zarqawi Killed in Iraq Air Raid

The head of US-led forces in Iraq, General George Casey, said Zarqawi was killed at 1815 (1415 GMT) on Wednesday, in an air strike against an “isolated safe house… approximately 8km (five miles) north of Baquba”.

Nadia Matar, co-chairwoman of the Women In Green grassroots movement, was questioned by Gush Etzion police today, after officers turned up at her home with an interrogation order. Matar was accused of taking part in an illegal gathering and of interfering with an officer of the law carrying out his duties. Matar refused to cooperate with her interrogators, claimed she was innocent and called the police orders “Bolshevik persecution”.

Each time that Jerusalem has emerged as a focal point of Muslim religious and political interest since the seventh century, it has been in response to specific utilitarian needs. When Jerusalem served Muslim theological or political purposes, the city grew in Muslim esteem and emotions. When those needs lapsed, Muslim interest promptly waned. This cyclical pattern has fully repeated itself six times over fourteen centuries.
Palestinians rediscovered Jerusalem only after the British conquered it in 1917, when they used it to rouse Muslim sentiments against imperial control. After Jordanian forces seized the city in 1948, however, interest again plummeted.
PMO Refutes [State Comptroller’s] Report on Disengagement

Refuting charges in the state comptroller’s report on disengagement released in March, Prime Minister’s Office Director-General Ra’anan Dinur on Tuesday defended the government’s activities on behalf of Gaza evacuees.
The report alleged that the Prime Minister’s Office and a number of ministries mishandled the absorption of the 1,700 families pulled out of Gaza and four communities in northern Samaria last August.
‘Global Jihad Operating in Jerusalem’

Shin Bet Head Yuval Diskin told the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee Tuesday that there are initial signs of global jihad operations in Nablus and Jerusalem, and that the international terror network is also active in Sinai and Jordan.
“We have intercepted plans to carry out terror attacks, and arrested people who have been involved in this, but encountered no concrete,
operative plans,” he said. According to Diskin, there is a constant flow of the al-Qaeda organization from Iraq to Jordan, but he failed to specify whether he was referring to arms, information, or manpower.
