Moslems Working to Consolidate Hold on Har HaBayit; Olmert Regime Silent, Complicit…

Spiraling Out of Control, by By Ksenia Svetlova (Jerusalem Post)

Excerpts;

From the veranda of the Hebrew University on Mount Scopus, the call for the Maghreb (evening) prayer permeates the warm Jerusalem fall air. A thousand different voices repeat the ancient formula from all across the town, although the loudest call without a doubt comes from Al-Aksa’s four minarets.

Soon, if the plan announced last week by Jordanian King Abdullah II becomes a reality, a fifth minaret will be added. The Hashemite monarch’s announcement last week seems to have detonated a small bomb in both Arab and Jewish worlds, causing contradictory reactions and not a little antagonism. read more

On Friday The Jerusalem Post led its front page with a story which should have sent shivers down all our spines – not because it reported any disaster but because it exposed the symptoms of a potential, if not inevitable disaster.

Right on the border with Gaza – hardly a peaceful demarcation line – Post correspondent Anshel Pfeffer discovered no less than 17 armored combat vehicles left unattended, with quantities of ammunition and electronic equipment. Our reporter actually started one of the vehicles and began driving it. No guard so much as inquired about the movement. read more

Lieberman’s Gov’t Reform NOT Cure for “Chronic Instability”, a Disguise for Ethnic Partition in Galilee…

Column One: What Lieberman Wants, by Caroline Glick (Jerusalem Post)

“We haven’t the time to think about the growing threats to our country because we are wholly engaged in a vacuous debate about electoral reform.

Lieberman argues that his plan must go through, and that getting it through justifies joining the Olmert government because today Israel’s greatest problem is its governmental instability. This assertion is wrong for two reasons. First, the greatest deficit of Israel’s governing system is not its instability, but its uneven checks and balances between the three arms of government. Second, Israel’s most urgent problem today is not its malfunctioning political system, but its incompetent political leadership.” read more

IDF Officials Offer Lame Excuses for Immodestly Clad Female Vocalist at Assembly That Included Nachal Chareidi…

Religious Insensitivity Compels Soldiers to Leave Ceremony

Full Text;

Soldiers attending Thursday’s ceremony launching the IDF’s new combat infantry Brigade, Kfir, left during the assembly due to the immodest dress of a female performer.

A number of members of the Netzach Yehuda Battalion, more commonly known as Nahal Hareidi, left the event when a female vocalist got on stage to perform, due to religious prohibitions on listening to a woman sing.

They explained they were upset as well as surprised, citing the lack of religious sensitivities of the event organizers since a sizable number of participants in the event are Sabbath-observant soldiers. The singer’s immodest dress was also found offensive to the religious soldiers. read more
