Protesters, including religious Jewish immigrants from North America who were evicted from their homes during the Disengagement and wounded by police brutality at Amona, will protest the Orthodox Union’s decision to honor Prime Minister Ehud Olmert at their annual convention in Jerusalem.
A protest rally under the banner “Hey OU – Olmert isn’t kosher” will take place outside the convention. “I find it hard to comprehend why a Torah organization would want to invite a person who has practically declared war on the National Religious camp in Israel,” protester Steve Schwartz wrote to the organization. “Your organization’s actions are a slap in the face to your fellow religious Jews in Israel.”

Gay Marriages Can Now be Registered

Less than two weeks after the violent protests that turned the planned Jerusalem Gay Pride Parade into a smaller, closed event at the Hebrew University stadium died down, the High Court of Justice ruled on Tuesday that couples who marry in same-sex ceremonies abroad can be registered as married couples in Israel’s Population Registry.
In a vote of 6-1, Justice Elyakim Rubenstein being the sole dissenting vote, the court decreed that homosexual couples who marry abroad will enjoy the same status in the Interior Ministry as heterosexual couples who marry in civil ceremonies outside of Israel.

Iran has developed and even tested a fuse to be used for nuclear weapons, Israeli agents stationed in Iran have told the White House, according to a report published in the US weekly journal New Yorker on Monday morning.
According to the report, the White House received the information but did not hand it to the CIA.
The Israeli intelligence was in stark contrast to recent CIA estimations on Iran’s nuclear program that Teheran was far from attaining a nuclear bomb.

The IDF called off a planned aerial strike on the home of a leading terrorist commander in northern Gaza last night, after hundreds of Arabs gathered around the building, defying Israel to bomb it. Chanting, “Death to America and death to Israel!” in scenes broadcast on Palestinian Authority television, many of the Arabs said they would be willing to give their lives in the struggle. However, their bravado was, unsurprisingly, not tested, as the IDF called off the strike because of the protest. “The attack plan was canceled because of the people there,” an IDF spokesman said. “We differentiate between innocent people and terrorists.”
