Isn’t It About Time That Israel Re-asserts Her Sovereignty, Her Self-Defense, Instead of Collapsing, Appeasing Before World?

Column One: The Free World’s Achilles Heel, By Caroline Glick (Jerusalem Post)

Excerpts;

Britain’s Prime Minister Tony Blair is Israel’s best friend in Europe. And he’s not a very good friend.

Immediately after the September 11, 2001 attacks on the US, Blair was instrumental in convincing US President George W. Bush to view the Palestinian jihad against Israel as a conflict completely separate from the global jihad. His success in convincing Bush of this distinction turned the anti-Semitic – not to mention strategically disastrous – view that terrorists who kill Israelis should be treated differently from terrorists who kill anyone else into one of the cognitive foundations of the US war on Islamic terror. read more

Tuesday War News…

Fatah’s Elite Force 17 Terror Commander Arrested

Full Text;

Security sources revealed a short time ago that the Ramallah-based commander of Force 17, the personal militia of the Fatah leadership, has been apprehended. An elite border guard unit carried out the arrest of Mahmoud Damra, wanted by Israel for six years, in Bir Zeit.

Damra, on Israel’s most-wanted list for a series of deadly attacks, was appointed to head Force 17 by Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas two months ago. Since September 2000, Damra has led a terror cell that has carried out shootings at Israeli vehicles, attacks against Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria and the planting of roadside bombs. Damra was among those offered shelter in 2002 in Yasser Arafat’s compound in Ramallah, the Mukata. read more

The People’s Commission of Inquiry: General Elections …

The Necessary Accounting By Caroline Glick

“Olmert and his colleagues require the fiction of Abbas as a moderate leader and the fiction of Fatah as a moderate counterweight to Hamas to justify their planned policy of retreating from Judea and Samaria.

It becomes self-evident that both the demand for Olmert, Peretz and Halutz to resign and the demand that an accounting be made of the mistakes that led Israel to its strategic defeat in Lebanon are necessary.

The only way that the proper lessons can be drawn is for the current military and political leadership to be replaced by alternative leaders capable of understanding the nature of the threats that surround us. For both objectives to be achieved, the only commission of inquiry that should be established is the inquiry of the citizens of the state that takes place in general elections.” read more

View of War in the North Up Close …

Our World: How I Spent My Summer Vacation, By Caroline Glick

Excerpts;

As I drove along the empty, beautiful, mountain road and gazed at the rocket smoke buffeting upwards from Mt. Meron, Safed, and Rosh Pinna below me, commentators on the radio kept asking, “Why is Hizbullah attacking Israel now?” Former generals spoke of the need for Israel to restore our deterrence against Hizbullah.

FOR SIX years, since Ehud Barak surrendered to the demands of the radical, EU-funded Israeli Left and withdrew IDF forces from southern Lebanon in May 2000, Israel stood by and did nothing as Hizbullah built up its massive arsenal of rockets and missiles. The IDF did nothing as Iran effectively set up shop along the border. read more

Why This Talk of Releasing Any Prisoners?

Olmert: “We Have No Intention of Capitulating to Blackmail”

Feigned Indignance?

Excerpt;

Prime Minister Olmert told the cabinet Sunday: “We and the international community know that Gilad [Shalit] is being held by a bloodthirsty gang of terrorists who are causing us much suffering but who are mainly hurting the Palestinian population, which is bearing the results of this terrorist activity….I have instructed the security establishment and the IDF to increase the strength of their actions in order to pursue these terrorists, those who dispatch them, their ideologues, and those who sponsor them. As I said, nobody will be exempt….We have no intention of capitulating to blackmail. Everyone knows that capitulating to terrorism today means inviting the next act of terrorism. We will not do this.” (Prime Minister’s Office) read more

Unfortunately Redundant, But Arrogant PM Still Doesn’t Get It …

Column One: Olmert Doesn’t Get It, By Caroline Glick

Excerpts;

Since replacing Ariel Sharon in office last December, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has refused to permit a large-scale IDF incursion into the Gaza Strip. The hundreds of rockets, mortars and missiles that have rendered the Western Negev’s population and economy hostage to Palestinian rocket crews could not budge him from his refusal to take the war to the enemy…

The fact that Israel’s intelligence collection capabilities in Gaza were grievously undermined in the aftermath of last summer’s withdrawal; the fact that IDF commanders acknowledge that more weaponry has been brought into Gaza in the past ten months than entered in the previous 38 years, made no impression. Repeated reports of Al Qaida opening shop in Gaza and of Iranian Revolutionary Guards units training Fatah and Hamas members in the destroyed Israeli communities were dismissed as unimportant, irrelevant and insignificant. read more

Rude Awakening to a Reality Ignored …

Israel’s Rude Awakening, By Caroline Glick

It is painful to watch Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Defense Minister Amir Peretz and Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni try to contend with the terrible outcome of the Palestinian terror strike against the IDF on Sunday morning.

They use so many fancy and angry words. They sound so resolute. And yet, they have nothing useful to say. Two soldiers are dead, a third is now the prisoner of jihadist killers, seven are wounded, an IDF border post has been overrun, and a world view and a security doctrine have been blown to smithereens. read more

PM: Accessory to Murder??

Manhigut Yehudit: PM Olmert is an Accessory to Murder

For context, click here and here.

Excerpts;

Manhigut Yehudit (Jewish Leadership) “sees the prime minister, the defense minister, the justices of the High Court of Justice, and any officer and soldier involved in the transfer of weapons to the murderer Abu Mazen and his gang as accessories to the murder of Jews,” the movement’s statement said. Furthermore, Manhigut Yehudit, headed by Moshe Feiglin, declared that it would work towards trying those involved in the weapons transfer before a court of law when the movement takes over the reigns of power. read more

Repeating The Past Mistakes; Giving the “PA(sic)” More Arms …

Olmert Approves Strategy of Arming Abbas to Fight Hamas

Excerpts;

Olmert’s decision effectively positions Israel on the side of Fatah in its conflict with the Hamas, the Islamic terrorist organization which governs the Palestinian Authority. That conflict over control of the PA has brought the two groups to the brink of civil war.

Fatah’s new weapons will be supplied by Egypt and Jordan and shipped to Fatah forces, including Abbas’s presidential guard, via Israel.

An aide to Olmert quoted by Reuters said, “He approved the delivery of a certain amount of weaponry to Abu Mazen’s (Abbas’s) presidential guard in order to bolster him so he can fulfil his obligations.” The aide did not specify which obligations the weapons would help Abbas fulfill. read more

Separation?? Separation Walls?? Unilateral Separation; What a Laugh!

Cabinet Approves Transfer of NIS 50 Million to PA

Commentary;

For any intelligent, thinking Jew, these terms thinly cloak the true purposes of the Sharon-Olmert Regime. For such people, the cabinet approved transfer of NIS 50 million to the “pa(sic)” is a complete absurdity.

And Abbas’ promise to keep this funding out of Hamas hands, to use it toward humanitarian needs? If you believe that, there is a bridge to sell you — cheap!

True separation means total and complete separation. No electricity, no telephones, no illegal workers, no monetary transfers, for any reason. read more
