Expulsion “Wall of Shame”: We, The People Must Protect Morality of Chayalim from Israel’s Despotic Leaders…

The Wall of Shame, by Rachel Saperstein, Neve Dekalim/Nitzan

Received this in an email today. This blog is proud to be the first to post Rachel Saperstein’s most recent offering. MB

Full Text;

Groups of visitors, Jews and Christians, arrived in Nitzan during the Sukkot holiday. I spoke with some groups and my message was one of deep hurt and endless hope.

One group became a sounding board on a plan that shook them, resulting in shouts of anger directed at me. I had stepped on a minefield for I had attacked our sacred Israel Defense Forces. read more

Our Gush Katif Brethren: Working Hard to Recover Their Lives…

A Community Sings, by Rachel Saperstein (Israel National News)

Excerpts;

The leader of a religious community must be its rabbi, and so it was in Gush Katif. Rabbi Yigal Kamineztky was our leader. As we lived in fear through years of Arab bombardment, as we worked to rescind the edict of our expulsion, as we sat hopeless in our tiny hotel rooms, as we pick up the threads of our life here in this refugee camp, we had a constant: the voice and courage of our rabbi. To retain our faith in the Almighty, to hold on to our community, we needed the heart, the voice, the spirit of our rabbi. As it was, so it is today. read more

Nitzan: Former Gush Katif Residents Sitting Ducks in Plasterboard??

The Sounds of War, by Rachel Saperstein

Excerpts;

We sit in our plasterboard caravilla in Nitzan, the largest of the refugee camps for those expelled from Gush Katif. Nitzan lies between the coastal cities of Ashdod and Ashkelon. Last week, Ashkelon was hit by two Kassam rockets launched from the former communities of northern Gush Katif. One landed in a schoolyard, the other in an open space. Ashkelon is in turmoil. The southern city of Sderot has been bombed repeatedly. The kibbutzes and moshavs bordering Gaza are hit incessantly. read more

Mood of Former Gush Katif Residents With Approach of Yom Ha’Atzmaut 5766 …

Holding On, by Rachel Saperstein

Excerpts;

During Pesach, we heard the endless shelling of Israeli artillery into Gaza. We heard the voices of our people, out of work. We heard the sadness in the voices of our people, many struck down by stress-induced heart attacks and cancer.

Groups came to visit during Pesach. I speak to the people, but I am not pleasant. I cannot forget or forgive. The Jewish National Fund will be bringing a group here next week; I have warned them that I will not be pleasant. read more

This is A MUST READ About the Abject Cruelty of Jonathan Bassi’s SELA …

Swapping ‘SELAH’ Stories -by Rachel Saperstein

Excerpts:

“Dan and Aviva are refugees from Gush Katif. Both are devoutly religious, sensitive, quiet-spoken people. They lived down our block. Dan is studying to be a rabbi. Aviva is an assistant kindergarten teacher. When we arrived in Neve Dekalim they were expecting their second child, a daughter, and then we welcomed their third, a son. Today SELAH, the Disengagement Authority, is demanding a DNA test from the family to prove the children really are theirs. The couple must cover the cost of this expensive test. Dan and Aviva are from Ethiopia. read more

The Agony and Hurt of an Israeli Government’s Betrayal of Fellow Jews…

Another right on the mark article from Rachel Saperstein, formerly of Neve Dekalim;

As We View Our Soldiers…

Excerpts:

“There is a good deal of worry about our children. Children who once viewed our soldiers with reverence now see the soldier as an enemy who can readily throw them out of their homes. You can no longer trust a soldier, or a policeman, or a member of the Knesset, or a prime minister. Each engenders fear. One is left with a sense of helplessness.”

” … I am traumatized and my body shakes as I relive, every night, my expulsion by the Israeli army and the Israeli police.” read more

More Vindictive Israeli Government Persecution of Refugee Families …

Harassment By Mail – by Rachel Saperstein, Neve Dekalim / Jerusalem Gold Hotel

Excerpts:

“A letter arrived from the Bezek Telephone Company. We will have to pay a penalty of IS 280, the letter stated, for breaking our one-year contract for internet use.“The government through us out in August” we countered. ‘They destroyed our phone lines. Sue the government for breach of contract.’ We are awaiting their reply.”

Twenty-three Neve Dekalim families received a letter from SELAH – The Expulsion Authority. ‘We don’t deny you lived in Neve Dekalim. But you rented privately rather than through the local council. So you are not entitled to housing in Nitzan, or compensation of any kind. You have six days to vacate your hotel!’ read more

Expulsion: in Retrospect, Continuing Consequences …

The IDF’s New Image

Excerpt:

“The new image of the IDF is not a pretty one. Who can trust future governments to refrain from again using the army to expel other citizens from their homes without due process of law? The future of the IDF has been compromised by misuse and involvement where it should never have been used. The supposedly democratic nature of our society is shown to be a sham when superior force is used to quell civil disobedience. The use of the military for this purpose is never appropriate and measures need to be taken to see that it does not happen again. Concurrently, the leadership of the military and police, members of the Knesset, and the Supreme Court and other public figures involved in supporting Ariel Sharon’s evil and criminal plan need to be replaced or retired. This calls for new elections and reform in our whole system of government and all its institutions, some of which need to be abolished and replaced with institutions that serve the public with compassion and humanity, and reflect long-held Jewish beliefs, traditions and values.” read more
