Commentary;

That a bodyguard of the PA’s senior negotiator Ahmed Qureia (Abu Ala) was a terrorist is no great surprise. And it’s also no surprise that a Fatah security team, assigned during meetings with Mahmoud Abbas in August, to protect Ehud Olmert, “whose members he [Olmert] armed, pardoned and funded,” plotted, but were foiled in an attempted attack on the Israeli Prime Minister.

But this blog joins Barak of IRIS in expressing total consternation that the Bush entourage and security team would sanction coordination with with Al Aksa Brigades terrorists, in the guise of security, is shocking and apalling. Why, the attempted assassins of Olmert who got off with two months in PA jail may well be part of Bush’s security detail. Just as Olmert boasted that the summer 2006 Lebanon debacle was a boon for “convergence, realignment, consolidation” or whatever other synonyms he chose on whatever day, Dr. Aaron Lerner’s weekly commentary decries Olmert’s recent Annapolis boasts. Olmert’s latest so-called “peace” efforts “presenting Israeli withdrawals as a gain rather than sacrifice” and his bogus assertions that “Israel has no choice but to accept a final status deal at any price” are part of the regime’s destructo “diplomacy” which only further emboldens the murderous Islamic enemy. Commentary;

This blog has hammered home again and again the shame of the evolving cycle of Israel’s governance in abandoning soldiers on fields of battle, such as with Jonathan Pollard, failure to rescue or even attempt to gain obtain sufficient intelligence to plan rescue of the kidnapped soldiers and it’s abandonment in 2000 (under cover of darkness) of the very South Lebanese allies who fought against terror alongside IDf soldiers.

What Evelyn Gordon relates in her column excerpted below could be extended to Israel’s American legislative allies who continually have their wings clipped. There is a litany of instances of American legislators taking very pro-Israel positions only to have their legs taken out from under them by a leftist Israeli regime. Examples in point are the US Joint Chiefs of Staff map of Israel’s defensible borders which Olmert withholds from distribution to Israelis as well as Israel’s recent possible failure to facilitate receipt by US House or Senate committees of videos of Egyptian officials caught in the act of aiding arms smuggling to terrorists in Gaza. In this later, recent case, American legislative allies may have been denied a major weapon to deny Eygpt military assistance. MB read more
