Has Israel’s military strategy of winning a war and vanquishing an enemy sworn to our destruction, so degraded in recent years to the point of fighting a conflict with the goal being introduction of international forces with their record impairing and further degrading Israel’s military capability as well as degrading Jewish national sovereignty? For many years, since 1991 when Parsha Ki Tisa marked my son Philip’s Bar Mitzvah, I have spoken or written about a posuk in our Parsha which alludes to an event which took place 40 year later, in a subsequent Parsha.
The posuk being referred to (Sh’mos, Perek 30, posuk 30)says that while Moshe Rabbeinu was on Har Sinai being given Torah, Hashem said, “You shall anoint Aaron and his sons and sanctify them to minister (to serve) me.”
This seemingly obscure posuk which pops up in a couple of slightly different forms in both Parsha Tetzaveh and in our Parsha raises a challenging question which cuts to the chase of what we are facing today. The question is; what about that Pinchas Ben Elazar? Why was he not anointed as a Kohen with his brothers?

An earthquake shook Israel at 12:37 PM Friday. The only damage reported in Israel was on the Temple Mount and near Shechem (Nablus).
The earthquake measured 5.3 on the Richter scale; its epicenter was located in northeastern Lebanon. Earlier last week a quake measuring 4.1 was felt in northern Israel, also originating from Lebanon, near its northern city of Tyre.

Eli Yishai, Shas Party, Rav Ovadia; How much clearer can it get? Here we have Pa. President Mahmud Abbas proclaiming for all to hear;
“We’re Negotiating Over Jerusalem”
Abbas doesn’t even bother speaking out one version to Western media and another version in Islam. He’s saying right out;
“The negotiating process has begun and it involved all of the ‘core issues’—the issue of borders, the issue of refugees, and the issue of Jerusalem.”

Commentary;
Here is a classic example of mainstream media misrepresentation of the facts.
German magazine: No date yet set for announcement, but expected soon; Gov’t official denies report, says talks on matter continue.
But if one reads the report below, nowhere is there a denial from any government source, unlike the “leader” which alleges denial. This author sticks with Jerusalem committeeman Nir Barkat’s assessment of Livni’s lack of a denial regarding Jerusalem talks with Abbas and project it on to the Der Spiegal report. In essence, as this author sees it, Jerusalem Post is warning Olmert that if he verifies the Der Spiegal report as correct by making such a declaration, that it will be the final nail in the political coffin.
