Olmert & Kadima: The Politics of Demonization …

The Demonization of the Fringe

Excerpts;

In his book Perfidy, while retelling the story of the trial of Dr. Rudolf Kastner in 1955, Ben Hecht records the testimony of Joel Brand, who was tasked with saving literally millions of Hungarian Jews from the ovens of the Holocaust. Amongst the tragedies that this testimony reveals is the devastating effect that can result from the marginalization of upright individuals who do not submit to foul policies of the establishment.

The calamity at Amona could only have been carried out after the general public in Eretz Yisroel and in America had been convinced, to the point of being brainwashed, of the unlawfulness of the “extreme-right-fanatical-fringe-element”, known as “settlers”. read more

On Israeli Politicians Like Olmert: Unchecked Political Quacks and Hacks …

Column One: Israel’s Policy Quacks, by Caroline Glick

Excerpts;

If a doctor treated a breast cancer patient by amputating her big toe, he would doubtlessly be kicked out of medicine. Medical quackery is punished today. Sadly, the same cannot necessarily be said of public policy malpractice.

So the events of September 11 made the US realize that its policies toward the Arabs and the UN had to be changed because far from advancing US interests, their old policies harmed them. Unfortunately, the new policies which replaced the old failed policies were incapable of solving the US’s problems and so they too have failed. read more

“Face-to-Face” Before Elections is Job for Adult Wisdom, Not Teens …

“Dear Adults, Now It’s Your Turn”

Commentary;

This young teen articulates what many have been thinking.

He writes; “And you, the adults – and excuse me for the generalization – mainly supported us from behind. You told us, ‘Yasher koach, great job, what wonderful youth!’ You told us, ‘We have jobs and family.’ And you know something? You were right. At that time, what we did was our job.”

“Now it’s your turn. Because if you say, ‘I can’t leave my job,’ how do you know that later you’ll have a job at all? – see entry for ‘Gush Katif residents.'” read more

Connecting the Dots on the Jericho Action?

The Real Olmert??

A friend has sent a couple of emails, the most recent being this morning regarding his take on the Jericho action and the seizure of the 6 Rachavim Ze’evi Assassins/Co-conspirators. These emails seem to strongly support the premise expressed in the Emmanuel Winston article below;

17 March, 2006;

The one thing that really seems to prove coordination between the players is the instantaneous move by the IDF once the monitors drove past. Like, so what if they drove past? Does that mean they abandoned the prison permanently? Maybe they went out to lunch? Maybe they were coming back? Maybe there were other observers left behind? Wouldn’t it have created a major diplomatic row if the IDF went in and the Brits hadn’t really left or were coming back? read more

Those Who Brought You Expulsion from Gush Katif and Amona: A Stay Home on Election Day is a Vote for Olmert and for More Expulsions …

Weekly Commentary: The Retreat Referendum

Excerpts;

I wanted to send a simple message to my fellow countrymen who oppose the retreat but out of disgust for the politicians do not plan to vote: These elections are not about Netanyahu, or Silvan “Steve” Shalom, or various other politicians in the other parties in the national camp. These elections are a national referendum on retreat.

Staying at home is a vote for retreat. I have no illusions. There is no guaranty that the politicians will ultimately even honor the outcome of the “referendum”. But it is our only shot. And sometimes in life you make an effort because an issue is so important even if you can’t be certain that the effort will pay off. read more

Parsha Ki Tisa — Peer Groups and Principle…

Parsha Ki Tisa — Peer Groups and Principle

By Moshe Burt

For many years, since 1991 when Parsha Ki Tisa marked my son Philip’s Bar Mitzvah, I have spoken of a posuk in our Parsha which alludes to an event which took place 40 year later, in a subsequent Parsha.

The posuk being referred to (Sh’mos, Perek 30, posuk 30)says that while Moshe Rabbeinu was on Har Sinai being given Torah, Hashem said, “You shall anoint Aaron and his sons and sanctify them to minister (to serve) me.” read more

Olmert: ” … Nothing to offer the Country, … Instead Exploit the Popularity of Kadima’s Comatose Founder …”

Tired of Fighting and Winning, by Evelyn Gordon

Excerpts;

Kadima’s campaign spots, by highlighting Ariel Sharon and billing Ehud Olmert merely as his heir, send an unintentionally revealing message: that Olmert himself has nothing to offer the country, so he must instead exploit the popularity of Kadima’s comatose founder. And an analysis of Olmert’s recent statements confirms this conclusion: He indeed has nothing to offer – except lies, empty promises and evasion of responsibility. read more

“…Vote, Even Only in Order that Olmert Should Not Get In…”: Nadia Matar

We Don’t Have the Luxury of Not Voting

Excerpts;

It is worthwhile to leave the house and to vote, even only in order that Olmert should not get in. Not to mention that it is important that we have at least a few MKs who faithfully represent the Land of Israel, the Torah of Israel, and the Jewish People of Israel. Thank God, our camp, the Orange Camp, is a great and mighty traditional camp. If each person commits himself not to remain home on Election Day, then we will ensure that all of the candidates who are loyal to Eretz Israel will enter the Knesset, where they will constitute a force against the Left and the Arabs. They will, in fact, influence the weak and servile members of Knesset, even those in the national camp. read more
