Prior to the Miraglim setting out on their mission to Eretz Yisrael, Moshe Rabbeinu prayed for Hoshea, that he should gain the strength, conviction and principle to stand against the false testimony of the other spies and to eventually lead B’nei Yisrael. Moshe blessed him before the mission and changed his name to Yehoshua which conveys the above attributes.
This prayer and blessing of Moshe Rabbeinu to Yehoshua begs the definition of the qualities which make a Real Jewish Leader.

The fundamental difference between withdrawal within the framework of the Road Map and Olmert’s proposed retreat is that Israel wants to retreat while leaving open the question as to what happens in the void the retreat creates. It would appear that the “solution” the Olmert team is working on is to strip the Road Map of any requirement for Palestinian compliance.

Many of us say today: We believe that Jews have rights to the entire Land of Israel, but “reality” forces us to make concessions. They believe that foregoing our rights to live in Hebron and Beit El and Nablus will bring peace. They apparently can’t see that they are pulling the rug out from any claim of rights over this land – moral, historical or legal.

Report: IDF Didn’t Shell Gaza Beach

According to the findings, expected to be formally released on Tuesday, shrapnel taken from two wounded Palestinians who were evacuated to Israeli hospitals showed that the explosives were not made in Israel, IDF officials said.
Moreover, the investigation noted the absence of a large enough crater at the site of the explosion, as would be expected if an IDF shell had landed there.
MK Erdan to Demand Israel Cut Gaza’s Electricity

Likud MK Gilad Erdan was expected to call on Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Finance Mnister Avraham Hirschson on Tuesday during a speech in front of the Knesset Plenum to cut Gaza’s electricity supply, which is provided by Israeli power plants.
Erdan was expected to cite a both a debt of NIS 300 million to the Israel Electric Authority by the Palestinian Authority, as well as the Kassam rocket attacks at Israel.
Erdan will call for the immediate cutting off of electricity until the Hamas-led PA puts an end to the attacks and arrests those responsible for carrying them out.

… Israel Air Force aircraft fired two missiles in Gaza City at the vehicle of an Islamic Jihad crew heading to fire rockets at Israel.
The Israel Defense Forces said that the militants were on their way to fire Katyusha rockets, which have a longer range than the homemade Qassam rockets usually fired from Gaza.

The volume of Kassams launched on Sderot and throughout the Negev has, in the opinion of this author. reached the point where it must be considered a blitz to the same degree as the sustained Nazi bombing blitz of London in 1940-41 or the “pa(sic)” blitz of Gilo in 2000-2001. MB

Rachel’s Tomb Walled in From All Sides

The holy site is located in Bethlehem, a short 3-minute drive from southern Jerusalem. Access to the site was always a simple matter, with public Egged buses and private cars bringing thousands to the tomb to pray.
But the Israel government’s policy of building walls to confront terrorism has affected Rachel’s tomb drastically. Access to the holy site is no longer possible through public buses, rather one must be transferred to a special bullet proof vehicle and travel via a route that is surrounded by tall walls.
