He also expressed his confidence in its ability to carry out any mission that it is assigned. The list of 45 terrorists the Hamas is demanding be freed in return for Cpl. Gilad Shalit reads like a who’s who of terror, and includes men responsible for intentionally murdering scores of Israeli men, women, children and babies and wounding hundreds of others.

The most prominient name on the list is that of Hamas super terrorist Abdullah Barghouti, who is serving 67 life sentences for the murder of dozens of Israelis and for his part in numerous suicide bombings. He was implicated in the Sbarro horror of August 2001, the triple suicide attack in Ben Yehuda Street in December 2001, the Cafe’ Moment atrocity and the Hebrew University attack of June 2002. read more

Our Parsha Sh’mini begins by relating that on the eighth day, Aaron and his sons commenced their Avodah HaKodosh.

But our Parsha also relates the tragedy of the deaths of Aaron’s two oldest sons, Nadav and Avihu who died while performing an unauthorized Service, offering a “strange fire …, which he did not command them…” (Artscroll Chumash, Vayikra, Perek 10, posuk 1) And our Parsha relates that “Hashem spoke to Aaron saying: Do not drink intoxicating wine, you and your sons …, when you come to the Ohel Mo’ed (the Tent of Meeting), that you not die — this is an eternal decree for your generations. Israel must not pay exorbitant price in exchange for abducted soldier Shalit.

Soon, according to media reports, a deal for the release of abducted IDF soldier Gilad Shalit may be finalized. We can assume it will be a repeat of the Jibril deal, where Israel released 1,150 terrorists in exchange for three abducted troops. In that deal, all boundaries of proportionality in terms of prisoner swaps were breached. Sadly, the current deal, managed by the most failed government in the country’s history, is expected to be even worse. read more
