National Union–National Religious Party Knesset member Uri Ariel warned Sunday morning that the government will be making a huge mistake if it releases arch-terrorist and Fatah leader Marwan Barghouti in exchange for IDF Cpl. Gilad Shalit.

The Palestinian Authority has reportedly submitted to Israel, by way of Egyptian mediators, a list of terrorists being held in Israeli prisons as the price for the kidnapped soldier’s freedom.

Ariel told reporters Sunday morning at the Temple Mount that “If it’s true, and I hope it’s not, this is the government’s final failure.” Shalit was kidnapped by Hamas terrorists during a cross-border raid from Gaza last June. His whereabouts and condition are unknown.
