Parsha Beshalach 5768: Learning From Moshe and Being As One With Our Brother’s Suffering
.
Near the end of our Parsha, we read “And the hands of Moshe were heavy and they took a rock and placed it under him and he sat on it.” (Sefer Sh’mos, Perek 17, posuk 12)
Rabbi Pliskin in Growth Through Torah cites a Rashi which states “that
Moshe did not sit on a comfortable pillow, but a rock. There was a battle going on with Amalek and Moshe wanted to feel the suffering of the people. This, said Rabbi Yeruchem Levovitz, is a lesson in feeling for another person’s suffering. Not only should we mentally feel their pain, but it is proper to do some action in order to feel some of the discomfort yourself when someone else experiences pain. This way [through empathy] you actually feel his pain.” (Growth Through Torah, Rabbi Zelig Pliskin, page 177, citing from Daas Torah, page 152)
Olmert Crossing the Ultimate Red Line to Doom Jewish State?
.
Commentary;
Based on TV Channel Ten reports, it sure seems that way. One again, the question MUST be asked; What’s it take to get the collective Jewish national backbone up? MB
Report: Olmert Agrees to Allow in 50,000 Arab ‘Refugees’, by Hillel Fendel (Israel National News)
Excerpts;
Reports are that Prime Minister Olmert has now agreed to allow 50,000 Arabs who left Israel in 1948 – or are descendants of those who did – to enter and live in Israel.
Channel Ten reported Thursday night that in a private meeting between Olmert and Palestinian Authority Chairman Abu Mazen, the two agreed that in the final-status agreement, Israel would withdraw from 92% of Judea and Samaria, including all the non-Jewish neighborhoods in eastern Jerusalem. It was also agreed that 50,000 “refugees from 1948” would enter and live in the State of Israel.
Amnesty Bill for Expulsion Opponents Includes Ban on IDF Discrimination, Not Included: Regime Suppression
.
Commentary;
It’s like this author heard repeatedly back 2 3/4 years ago in speaking with soldiers on buses to and from Neve Dekalim;
“If we don’t follow orders, we’ll lose our training, our career track, future job protexia.”
So too, the report below points out;
That the army quizzes recruits on their attitudes to the disengagement when deciding which units to assign them to. Army psychologists also proffer evaluative opinions, to ensure that the recruit is being straightforward about his opinion. If a youth is found to be “too right-wing,” a number of choices of unit assignment or army career paths are closed to him.
When a Nation Forfeits Sovereignty, Forsakes Shemayim for Earthly Superpower
.
Dr. Aaron Lerner of IMRA discusses the disturbing and scary prospect of putting another country in position of judge and jury over the actions which Israel must take to protect and secure it’s people and borders. It is obvious that Olmert and his corrupt hacks and leftist etrogization protectors have abrogated national sovereignty in their mad destructo mission against anything Jewish.
And President Bush’s inconsistencies, presented cogently by Dr. Lerner below, are particularly pertinent in light of media reports
here and here that the President gave Israel a green light for wide scale operations in Gaza. Bush gave the green light with a caveat demanding “that Olmert make sure the operation did not wind up hurting civilians (sic) [i.e. Human Shields around the terrorist rocket launchers].” MB

Mahmud Abbas Speaketh to President Bush With Forked Tongue
.

Commentary;
The Jerusalem Post Editorial below, as well as Isi Leibler’s piece speak about the phenomenon of the past 15 years — the erudition of the Arabs such that they deceive Israel and the US by suggesting that they want “peace”, while in fact preparing and justifying jihad and raising false, bogus rumors of Israeli attrocities to their own people. Those with in depth knowledge of the Islamic mindset know that deception and rumor-mongering is implacably engrained in the Islamic psyche from which Mahmud Abbas’ forked-tongue descended. MB
President Bush: Don’t Give Us the Money!
.
Commentary:
This author has never seen eye-to-eye with JPost columnist Larry Derfner and his virulent left-wing, seemingly anti-religious mindset.
But this is probably the one time (before the Ge’ula Shlaima) when we stand in agreement — over American foreign aid. Can the Ge’ula be far behind? Wow, Major Yom Tov — imagine that, Larry Derfner agreeing with a position of R’ Me’ir Kahane z”l who campaigned hard, in the years prior to his assassination, for a cessation of all American foreign aid to Israel.

Olmert: Jerusalem is in a Different Category from Outposts
Full Text;
Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said in a joint press conference with U.S. President Bush that Israel was not asked to make any new commitments in the present talks. He added: “I hope I am not disappointing anyone when I say that it is clear that Jerusalem is not in the same status as Judea and Samaria.”
Olmert explained that building in Jerusalem as well as the population centers in Judea and Samaria was not on the same status as the “outposts.”
