It is a sad statement about principle and integrity, or lack thereof, amongst the so-called Religious party alignments of Shas and Aguda (United “Torah Judaism”) when the Pensioners Party of perfiduous Rafi Eitan threatens the regime’s governing coalition regarding pension benefits and the regime’s attempts to implement division of Jerusalem while the “religious parties” merely cast verbal stones at each other, each accusing the other of “assasination” and “annihilation” of Torah.
The sad fact is that by either their support for, or their silent, acquiescent complicity in both Oslo and the Expulsion of Jews from Jewish land and their total lack of concrete opposition to both, Shas and Aguda have brought their current matzav upon themselves and upon all of Israel.
It will be interesting to watch whether the Pensioner’s Party actually walk’s the walk while talking the talk and whether they actually begin the process of crumbling the dominoes of Olmert, Ramon, Lieberman and Barak. MB

UTJ Accuses Govt, Shas of ‘Budgetary Assassination’

“Members of Knesset from the hareidi-religious UTJ party expressed anger at the government on Tuesday, accusing the Knesset of attempting a “budgetary assassination” of yeshivot. The proposed 2008 budget revealed on Tuesday allocated NIS 152 million to men’s Torah learning—a NIS 499 million cut from the current budget, according to which yeshivot receive NIS 651. ”
“MK Gafni harshly criticized the Shas party, saying ‘The Shas party, which pretends to be a hareidi-religious party, is a full partner in the trend of annihilation of the Torah world.’ The Jewish public will not forgive Shas, he said, adding ‘Their hand does not tremble as they vote again and again with this destructive coalition.’”
