Olmert Travelling to Meet Pope at Vatican: Mt. Zion on their Minds??

Motsei Shabbos; December 9, 2006;

Readers of this blog may recall a number of posts on this blog in November, 2005 regarding meetings which took place between President Katzav and the Pope which were to have included negotiations and possible agreement regarding a possible hand over by Israel of Mt. Zion to the Vatican.

Thankfully, the meeting took place but Mt. Zion is still in Jewish hands thanks Ellen Horowitz who issued a warning which quite a few bloggers picked up on and which resulted in pressure on President Katzav.

However, this week, Prime Minister Olmert sets out for the Vatican for meetings with the Pope. There is concern that what President Katzav didn’t do last year, Prime Minister Olmert may well do this year unless immense pressure is brought to bear, and this time there is little time before Olmert leaves for Rome.

Here is what Ellen writes;

It seems Olmert will be meeting with the Pope this week. No agenda has been set, but an article which appeared in the Catholicnews.com gives us a clue. It appears Israel has agreed to reopen negotiations over alleged church property. And that means that the status of Har Tzion, Kever Dovid HaMelech, and the Diaspora Yeshiva are on the line.

Pave the Way Foundation and Director Gary Krupp has Israel’s reliquishing of the the Cenacle Shrine/Upper Room at the top of their agenda.

I suggest that bloggers and pro-Israel news sites get this issue
disseminated as quickly as possible. Last year, the Committee to Save Mt. Zion launched an effective campaign to thwart Vatican plans, but we had a lot more warning and time.
