In Spite of Olmert’s Words, Has He Really, Honestly Dropped “Convergence?” Does He Even Know What Honesty is?

Commentary;

A few days ago, this blog asked if; “Loss of War in Lebanon Buries ‘Convergence’?

Barak at IRIS seems to think so in reporting; “Olmert Drops West Bank Withdrawal Plan.”

However, note that convergence has not been discarded or scrapped in Olmert’s mind. The Haaretz story which Barak quotes also states, “Olmert said that talk at this time about the convergence plan would not be ‘appropriate.'” But mark this author’s words; the sinat chinom, the venom of secular Israelis towards Jews, toward 300,000 Yesha residents who took on the holy mission of fulfilling the Divine legacy of yishuv Eretz Yisrael remains close to the surface. The leftist aim of separating Israelis from their Jewish legacy, heritage, history has not died with Israel’s defeat in the Lebanon War.

Given the opportunity and timing again, Olmert, Peretz, Peres, Livni, Ezra, Halutz, Ramon and their ilk will jump to press for another expulsion. MB

The surest confirmation of this author’s prediction came from this excerpt of a Jerusalem Post report;

Housing Minister Meir Shitreet who told Army Radio: “It is my assessment that the prime minister will not deal with this (the West Bank pullout) in the coming period, because it’s really not on the agenda.”

“I cannot say that the prime minister has dropped the plan. I don’t think he has reached such a conclusion,” said Shitreet, who opposes a unilateral pullout and favors trying to reach a peace deal with the Palestinians. Shitreet is a member of Olmert’s Kadima Party.
