The Kid and the Unguarded, Unregulated “Cookie Jar” …

[Sharon Tradition Continues] Dov Weissglas to be Bezeq Chairman

Commentary;

Placing Dov Weissglas as Chairman of Bezeq is like leaving a kid in room with an unguarded cookie jar.

First, consider Aaron Lerner of IMRA’s take on the appointment;

“The fine tradition of maintaining and promoting the government-big money relationship that made the Sharon administration so effective (thanks in no small part to Attorney General Mazuz’s policy that the enforcement of law would not be allowed to interfere with anyone involved in retreat) continues.”

Now consider this sampling below of the volumes of resources that searches of Israel Resource News Agency investigations of Weissglas’ alleged dealings, for example;

Weissglas and the Jericho Casino

Dov Weissglass, office manager and the long time private law counsel of the Prime Minister, law firm represents prominent Palestinian business interests, i.e the Palestinian casino company, in part owned by Jibrl Rahoub and by Yassir Arafat.

Weissglas, Political stooge Shaul Mofaz, the Jericho Casino and the sackng of former IDF Chief of staff Moshe (Boogie) Ya’alon.

Weissglas’ Promotion of “Convergence”, before it even got it’s name.

These appear as just the tip of investigatory research available regarding citings of alleged or apparent conflicts of interest in Weissglas’ apparent dual representations and dual interests. For more searches; click here and arrow down to the search function.

And here are more 2 links; dated 28 September, 2004 and 1 October, 2004 which together put all of the above into clearer focus in speaking about Weissglas’ law firm, Weissglass- Almagor and a business trust by a similar name in connection with alleged representation of “the financial interests of the Palestinian Authority, including Muhammad Rashid, the treasurer appointed by Yassir Arafat to manage Arafat’s illusive accounts which amount to several billion dollars.”

It seems obvious that, like every Israeli politician who has had palms greased by private interests be they the “12 families” or the p.a. (sic), concern for the people, for his nation’s security and wellbeing, for one’s fellow Jews is secondary, expedient to self-enrichment and self-aggrandisement.

And now, Dov Weissglas has been appointed to be Bezeq Chairman. In a nation devoid of regulatory agencies and financial transparency and bursting with self-interest, self-aggrandisement, graft and influence-peddling, Dov Weissglas’ appointment as Bezeq Chairman can only bode ill for Israel’s consumers.
