Legal Aid Society Director Released

Full Text;

“Shmuel Meidad, head of the Honenu legal aid society, was released from police custody tonight, following his arrest from his Hevron home and subsequent interrogation this [Wednesday] afternoon.”

“The investigating officer laid out the suspicions against Meidad during the interrogation, claiming that the Honenu director was involved in an illegal gathering and endangered life on a public thoroughfare in August of 2005. The police then said that Meidad had to deposit his personal weapon with them as a result of the suspicions against him. Meidad denied the occurrence of any such event and noted that he was never previously questioned regarding such suspicions.

“At the conclusion of the police interview, Meidad was asked to sign a personal guarantee and to allow himself to be fingerprinted, but he refused. After further delays and internal discussions, the Hevron police released Meidad unconditionally.”
