“According to a report released by prominent investigative journalist Yoav Yitzchak, in March 2000 Olmert was involved in a fictitious arbitration deal that yielded NIS 5 million, evading national income tax and other authorities. Yitzchak states there are government authorities and other journalists who learned of the illegal activities, but they opt to remain silent rather than reveal the details of the case.“
“Yitzchak adds this is not a lone case, stating of late, journalists have been “pressured” to refrain from publishing other damaging reports involving Olmert, now only a number of weeks before the national election.”
“When asked to comment on the report on Friday, 17 Feb. ahead of the report being released, Olmert reportedly evaded a direct response to the questions posed regarding the arbitration case.“
