What Right Does Israeli Gov’t Have to Express “Betrayal or Moral Indignation” at Putin Statement, Invitation to Hamas?

Putin: Hamas Not a Terror Organization

Excerpts;

“Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a press conference in Madrid Thursday that he intends on inviting the leaders of the Palestinian terror group to Moscow, Itar-Tass news agency said.”

“Hamas politburo Khaled Mashaal welcomed the Russian initiative saying group representatives will travel to Moscow should Putin address an official invitation.”

“He added that Russia’s position ‘will lead to a certain equilibrium’ in international relations especially that ‘America’s influence has started to wane because of numerous impasses in which the American administration is entangled.’”

Putin was quoted as telling a joint press conference with Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero in Madrid, where he was on a visit, that ‘Russia is maintaining contacts with the Hamas organization and intends in the near future to invite the leadership of this organization to Moscow.’

“Putin reiterated that Russia does not consider Hamas a terrorist organization, and urged the global community to work with a Hamas-led Palestinian government.”

Pres. of Russia Putin: Our Position Concerning Hamas Differs from the American and Western European Positions

Excerpts;

Vladimir Putin: “Our position concerning Hamas differs from the American and western European positions. The foreign ministry of the Russian Federation never declared that Hamas is a terrorist organization. But this does not mean that we approve and support everything that Hamas does and all the declarations that they have made recently. We think that it is one thing when this political force was the opposition and trying to get into power and we know that throughout the whole world very often the opposition makes very radical statements. It is another thing when it receives the people’s vote of confidence and must make sure that the people who believed in this movement feel the positive results of their authorities’ work. And for this it is necessary to leave behind the extremist positions, to recognize Israel’s right to exist and to have relations with the international community.”

“We call on Hamas to do these very things. In any case we would consider refusing to help the Palestinian people a mistake.”

US demands Clarification of Putin’s Invitation to Hamas

Commentary;

What right does the Medinat Yisrael have to express feelings of “betrayal or moral indignation” at Putin’s invitation to Hamas?

  • To clarify, this author equates the Government of Israel (or rather the current regime) with the term Medinat Yisrael — the Medina being equated with whatever government is in power at the time.
  • This author wrote last summer, shortly before the expulsion from Gush Katif, that “We are the front line of Judaism. Our humiliation at rewarding terror would cast all Jews here and in Chutz L’Aretz again as ‘spineless’. Look for serious Anti-Semitic backlash. And Chas V’Chalila after Jew would expell Jew, expect the Arabs and the world to attack us at will and as we have probably not seen in the past 50 years. We would again be viewed by the world, as we were seen by the Nazis, as spineless, sub-human creatures. Nothing would remain sacred.”

    “We felt betrayed when we were attacked at the Munich Olympics, on the Holy day of Yom Kippur, in the Air France plane hijacked to Entebbe. Don’t dare feel betrayed again because, for the Secular Israeli who Chas V’Chalila supports expulsion of his Jewish brothers, perhaps nothing Jewish could ever be sacred again.”

    To Meir Sheetrit, the Medina [by this author’s definition] is YOU and all of your ilk in the Kadima Party. And Medina Yisrael forfeited it’s right to valid expression of “moral or righteous indignation” at anything that their enemies do, or that the rest of the world does to victimize or terrorize her when the Government itself expelled Jews from Jewish land in Gush Katif and when it’s police and yassamnikim battered and brutalized those defending their inalienable right to Jewish land at Amona.
