Olmert: Disengagement Didn’t Strengthen Hamas

Full Text;

“‘Hamas was strong before the disengagement; there is no connection between disengagement and Hamas’s win,’ Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said Tuesday night in an interview with Nissim Mishal on Channel 2.”

“Olmert called the Likud an ‘extreme right-wing’ party, whose policies allowed no possibility for change.”

“The Likud approach, Olmert said, would present a scenario of endless struggles, in which Israel would find itself alone in the world.”

Israeli PM Discloses Separation Plan

Excerpts;

“Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said Tuesday that Israel plans to separate from most of the Palestinians in the West Bank and this would require withdrawing from some of the territory.”

It was the first time Olmert, who took over from ailing Ariel Sharon a month ago, has spelled out his thinking for future policy if he wins March 28 elections. The Kadima Party he inherited from Sharon, who is comatose after a stroke, is far ahead in the polls.”

“‘We will disengage from most of the Palestinian population that lives in Judea and Samaria,’ Olmert told Israel’s Channel 2 TV, using the biblical names for the West Bank. ‘That will obligate us to leave territories under Israeli control today.'”

“Under questioning, Olmert listed West Bank four areas Israel would keep under his vision: Maaleh Adumim, a settlement of 30,000 next to Jerusalem; Gush Etzion, a bloc of settlements south of Jerusalem; Ariel, a settlement of 18,000 deep in the West Bank; and the Jordan River valley.”

Olmert: Maale Adumim Part of Israel

Excerpts;

Although the West Bank fence serves a security objective, it will also encompass large settlement blocs near Jerusalem that are ‘an inseparable part of Israel,’ Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said on Tuesday during a tour of the Jerusalem region.”

“‘Even though we’re talking about a security fence, my instructions are that Gush Etzion and Maale Adumim remain an inseparable part of the State of Israel,’ he said.”

Ma’ale Adumim Mayor to Olmert: Put Words into Deeds

Excerpt;

Ma’ale Adumim Mayor Benny Kashriel:
“Everyone is making promises, everyone is making statements, he said, but effectively, nothing has yet been done. ‘I expect that my friend, Ehud Olmert, put his words into action by building up region E1 between Ma’ale Adumim and Jerusalem,’ he added. This would test whether his statements are backed by true intentions …

Commentary;

Ehud Olmert is the Trial Balloon Man of doom, and seemingly a serial liar too! Even when he says something positive, such as regarding Ma’alei Adumim, there is more than sufficient reason to be apprehensive. Kashriel is right. Why isn’t Olmert rushing to build E-1 instead of squandering millions, billions of NIS on Police and Yassamnikim to bust Jewish heads such as was seen last Wednesday in Amona.

“Gush Etzion and Maale Adumim remain an inseparable part of the State of Israel”; Don’t we seem to remember Arik Sharon’s prior statements about Gush Katif being as important as Tel Aviv?

And consider the words of Uzi Landau: Olmert holding onto Jordan border like held Philadelphi Corridor.

Olmert: We Must Separate From the Palestinians

Excerpts;

“In his first interview since becoming Acting Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert on Tuesday revealed the core of his political agenda as the country’s leader, stressing that Israel must separate itself from the Palestinians within an agreement that would draw its permanent borders.”

“Speaking with Nissim Mishal on Channel 2 TV, Olmert said ‘reality today obliges us to separate ourselves from the Palestinians and to remodel the borders of the State of Israel and this is what I will do after the elections.'”

“When asked what concessions Israel would be prepared to make, Olmert said ‘we will separate from the majority of the Palestinian population living in the West Bank. This will force us to evacuate territories currently held by the State of Israel.'”

Commentary;

Sure Hamas was strong and growing before the expulsion of Jews from Gush Katif. But Olmert’s remarks fly totally in the face of everything; all of the subsequent consequences of expulsion; the Kassams on Sderot, the Negev towns, such as Karmiya which houses Gush Katif Refugee families, the Israeli surrender at the crossings, the restoration of terror; stonings, snipings, etc on the roads of Israel on both sides of his “precious” green line. Hamas wasn’t strengthened by all of this so as to score a historic, crushing victory?

One example of the fallacy of Olmert’s assertions can be found in this
Haaretz Probe: Israel Has Little Say at Rafah Crossing.

And just why must Israel “… from the majority of the Palestinian population living in the West Bank.” How much longer will the nation be deceived by promulgation of the “Demographics Dud?”

Olmert; How much longer will the nation that you temporarily lead suffer these lies and deceptions? MB

Olmert Faces Sharp Criticism From Within Kadima Party

Excerpts;

Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert received a barrage of criticism from both right and left Wednesday morning, as well as from within his own Kadima Party for comments he made Tuesday night in which he suggested the possibility of further withdrawals.”

“According to Army Radio Tzahi Hanegbi, of the Kadima Party, said he would work against such a plan, while his Kadima colleague, former Shin Bet chief Avi Dichter expressed outright rejection of further withdrawals.”

“Ministers from both Labor and Likud blasted Olmert’s comments. Yitzhak Herzog of Labor called Olmert’s speech a “failed audition” and added that it sounded as if Olmert was repeating the platforms of other parties.”
