Why the Unprovoked Police Violence?

Received this email from a local list;

Haim Ramon (of all people) asked a good question on the radio yesterday – how come the supposed dozens or hundreds of rock throwing “hooligans” weren’t arrested on the spot?

Clearly, there were people throwing rocks, but having served in both the army and MAGAV here, and from conversations I’ve had with American cops and soldiers, I can vouch for the fact that anybody lifting a hand against a cop is immediately dealt with in the strongest of terms.

So – where are the hooligans? Could it be that some/many/most/all of them were on the Ehud Olmert/Gidon Ezra payroll, like the 2-3 undercover cops who were discovered and turned away at the Amona gate before the pogrom? Is that another reason for Olmert to prevent a commission of inquiry?

Did Haim Ramon just shoot his cause in the foot? Or was it a tactic
to prepare the public for a wave of empty post-pogrom arrests?

Mofaz Defends Police Behavior at Amona

Full Text;

“Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz defended police behavior at Amona last week against demonstrators protesting their opposition to a government order to demolish the town.”

“’Security forces operated according to the law and by a legal order,” said Mofaz.. ‘They encountered a high level of violence and hate that, under the circumstances, required them to act’ forcefully to destroy the houses at the site.”

“Leaders of Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria, as well as other respected public figures, are calling for an investigation into instances of police brutality that took place at last week’s demonstration.”

Commentary;

Same empty, shallow police-state rhetoric spoken by the Neuvo Rich S’fardi whose principles are limited to that which benefit’s Sha’ul Mofaz, the Nation [who never elected him to anything] be damned! MB

MK Uriel at Jerusalem Protest: Olmert Wanted Blood

Excerpts;

“MK Uri Ariel (National Union), addressing the Jerusalem anti-Olmert protest attacked the acting prime minister for sending police to Amona to accomplish with violence what could have been accomplished through compromise.”

“‘How do we know that Olmert is bad for the Jews?’ Ariel asked. ‘Because Ehud ran! Ehud ran! We offered him compromise solutions – I know that you don’t like this, but we made the offers – but he wanted to see blood. He wanted to see fire in Hevron but we came to a compromise and everything ended the night before. But in Amona, Olmert wanted the blood of the Jews, but we wouldn’t give it to him. We will throw him out of power on the 29th of [the Hebrew month of] Adar.'”

“Ariel tore his shirt in mourning, saying he had consulted with Beit El Chief Rabbi Zalman Melamed on the manner beforehand.”

“‘We condemn the prime minister, in that instead of dealing with Hamas, he attacks Amona. We condemn the prime minister in that instead of connecting Maaleh Adumim with Jerusalem he passes millions of shekels to terror groups – on this there will be an investigatory committee.'”
