Motzei Shabbos Status on Sharon’s Condition…

Neurosurgeon Thinks PM has Good Chance to Survive

Sharon’s Condition Serious but Stable; Vital Signs Normal.

Excerpts;

Doctors at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem announced that the CAT scan conducted Saturday on Prime Minister Ariel Sharon showed a ‘very slight’ improvement. Professor Shlomo Mor-Yosef, the hospital’s director general, said that the intracranial pressure had decreased and that Sharon’s vital signs were normal.”

“Mor-Yosef reiterated that the prime minister’s condition was stable, but nevertheless serious. He also said that while the latest CAT scan showed that although the left side of Sharon’s brain appeared ‘normal,’ there would be no way of assessing the extent of the damage caused by the prime minister’s cerebral hemorrhage until doctors brought Sharon out of his induced coma.

“On Sunday morning, Hadassah neurologists, neurosurgeons, and anesthesiologists will meet and discuss continued treatment.”

Doctors: Sharon’s Brain X-Ray Shows Slight Improvement, But He’s Still Critical

Excerpts;

“Hadassah University Hospital director Shlomo Mor-Yosef said Saturday evening that the latest scan of the brain of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, performed Saturday, shows a slight improvement, but his overall condition remains critical.

The improvement doctors noticed on the prime minister’s CT scan was thanks to a certain diminution the edema that causes the intra-cranial pressure, Mor-Yosef said.”

Mor-Yosef emphasised, however, that the current treatment is aimed at keeping the prime minister alive.

“‘First we have to stabilize the situation and fight for the life of the prime minister,’ he said.”

“When asked whether his life could be saved, Mor-Yosef replied, ‘We believe it’s possible.'”

“When waking Sharon out of his coma, doctors will be ‘looking for some sort of response,’ Mor-Yosef said. ‘If there is no response, that would be bad news.'”

“Hadassah Hospital spokeswoman Yael Bosem-Levy on Saturday evening denied a report by Sky TV that Sharon had contracted pneumonia as well.”

“Sharon, who is fighting for his life after suffering a severe stroke and cerebral hemorrhage Wednesday night, was taken for a procedural CT scan Saturday morning to check for internal bleeding and examine intra-cranial pressure following surgical intervention the day before.”

Doctor: PM Will Likely Survive

Excerpts;

“Optimistic remarks: Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s chances of survival are ‘very high’, one of the PM’s surgeons said in an interview with Israel’s Channel 2 Saturday evening.”

“‘Today is better than yesterday. The feeling is a little more optimistic, more than yesterday,’ Jose Cohen said in the interview. ‘Tomorrow (Sunday) is the day of truth, tomorrow we’ll know whether everything we did really helped him (Sharon) or not.‘”
