Moshe Feiglin and the Likud/Feiglin’s Campaign Getting too Hot for Bibi to Handle?

Feiglinism and the Likud

Excerpts;

“Upon seeing the news from Israel earlier this week, I was met with the headline that Defense Minister Sha’ul Mofaz became the latest Likudnik to jump ship and join Kadima. The fact that he made this move didn’t surprise me in the least, nor did it disappoint me in the slightest. I had been concerned all along that he was merely serving the role of an Ariel Sharon mole, whose sole purpose was to help Sharon win re-election.

There was one point in Mofaz’s act that did make me take note, and that was his attempt to sneak in a cheap shot against Moshe Feiglin before making his dramatic departure. Mofaz is not the first of the Likud renegades to take a poke at Feiglin. In fact, Feiglin has become the favorite target of many former Likudniks who seem to have this irrational fear of Feiglinism taking over the Likud. That is a very interesting phenomenon given the poll numbers, which give Moshe Feiglin less than 15% of the vote. So, there obviously must be much more to it than just poll numbers.”

Commentary;

That Mofaz was a Sharon mole, a Trojan Horse in Likud seems as obvious as the nose on your face. Further, it’s very interesting that each Likud defector to “Kadima(sic)” takes a parting shot, throws a low blow at Moshe Feiglin. To all the surrender artists who have ditched Likud; “Asta LaVista Baby!” MB

Shalom Says Netanyahu Camp Behind Bid to Oust Feiglin

What’s Behind Attempts to Disallow Feiglin Candidacy?

This author was trying very hard to keep this story off of the blog, lest it dignify the petitioners and their unspecified, empty, devoid of substance charges regarding Moshe Feiglin’s candidacy and their request for the court disqualify his candidacy in the Likud leadership race.

However, it has become compelling to place this article on the blog as it gets to the true motivations of the petitioners, who is backing the effort and why.

The excerpts below and the article, in it’s entirety, are a Must-Read. MB

“Shalom’s people assert that Netanyahu was behind a petition to the Likud tribunal Tuesday to ban far-right party member Moshe Feiglin from running in the leadership primary, as a result of pressure he feels due to polls showing a narrowing of the gap between him and Shalom.”

The petition, submitted by Eli Hazan and Moshe Ifergan, who are associated with Netanyahu, claims that Feiglin, chairman of the Jewish Leadership faction, represents a radical right-wing movement that does not reflect the Likud’s values, and that his credo contradicts the Likud’s platform and constitution.

‘Bibi [Netanyahu] is in a panic, because he knows he is going to lose,’ said members of the Shalom camp Tuesday.

Feiglin associates said Tuesday there had been numerous messages in recent days from people close to Netanyahu calling on Feiglin to drop out of the race, and that all signs indicate Netanyahu is feeling the heat and is afraid of having to face Feiglin in a run-off round.

“According to Feiglin, just a few days ago Netanyahu lashed out at the improper and anti-democratic norms Ariel Sharon brings to politics.”

“Feiglin, the statement said, is calling on all candidates to respect democracy in the movement and not return to the undemocratic conduct during the rank-and-file referendum in Sharon’s era.”

Within another related article is an assertion that; “Some 700 central committee members signed one of the petitions that claimed Feiglin did not share the Likud’s outlook, values or goals.”

As stated above, neither the petitioners or signatores have publically specified the basis or justification for such petitions. MB
