Overnight Election Political Madness …

Iran Threatens Counter-Strike

Excerpt:

“Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman says recent Israeli statements on Iran’s nuclear project show Israeli government is frustrated from failure to bring international community to pressure Iran: ‘Zionist authorities are well aware that if they make a foolish mistake against Iran, Iran’s harsh response will be destructive and determined'”

This blog does not normally cover or comment on items such as the Iran Nuke situation as it is an issue totally separate from the expulsion or it’s implications and consequences. However, in light of the possible directions this election campaign might take, don’t discount the possibility of a Sharon “March Surprise” attack on Iran’s Nuke Reactor(s) in the weeks before the vote. Olmert Wants Silvan Shalom to Head Likud

Excerpt:

“Olmert, who serves as Israel’s finance minister, denied charges he was meddling in Likud politics in order to support a candidate amenable to Sharon.”

“A sure as Hashem made little green apples and it don’t rain in Indianapolis in the summertime …” Olmert is meddling or more in Likud politics. MB

Landau to Quit Likud Primary Race

Excerpts:

“Likud MK Uzi Landau decided on Monday to quit the Likud primary race. In a press conference called for 11:30 am Monday, Landau will make the official announcement.”

“Likud sources told Army Radio that they expect Landau to support frontrunner Binyamin Netanyahu for party leader.”

“Over the past 24 hours, sources close to Landau have denied reports that he intended to quit, but had ceased protesting on Monday morning.”

If Landau does, in fact, quit, who does his support go to; Bibi, Shalom, Mofaz, etc.? Possible that there’s a deal in works with Feiglin? Or is this news planted by Kadima, or Kadima moles in Likud to sabotage Landau?

Yisrael Katz apparently thinks that the Landau quitting report is real
and thinks that Landau voters will vote for him;

Yisrael Katz Says Landau Supporters Will Vote for Him

I can’t see how, and here’s why;

Article Excerpt #1:

“Katz said the he remains ‘the only candidate for head of the Likud who voted consistently against the disengagement plan.’”

Article Excerpt #2:

“After the cabinet approved the disengagement plan, MK Uzi Landau resigned from the government and set up a faction of Likud loyalists opposed to the plan.

Katz voted against the plan, but remained a member of Sharon’s government, serving as minister of agriculture.”

Katz is full of baloney! The last part of the second excerpt speaks for itself. One more thing to consider, although this author puts no credence in the polls, the fact is that Yisrael Katz has consistently polled 1%.

Landau’s natural ally would seem more likely to be Moshe Feiglin and his Manhigut Yehudit — Jewish Leadership faction of Likud. MB
